Windows Update EVERY TIME I shut my comp off

Lately every time I shut my computer off windows xp says its going to install an important update. Doesnt matter if I had the computer on for 2 seconds or 2 weeks. It always installs 1 important update. This is obviously false, or a virus of some sort. Anyone have any ideas?

check the update section of microsoft.com, see what is being installed

It could have failed in installing the update, and is trying again when you shutdown. Check what it is installing.

Its the same update everytime. For windows media player 6.4, which I dont even have...... :|

Just remove the update in your control panel (Says how on the page you posted)

And if it pops up again asking you to download, then don't check the box and click YES when it asks not to notify you again.
