I doubt anyone here has the answer, but whenever I go to the Windows Update site it either says I need to enable ActiveX controls (I have) or add windowsupdate.microsoft.com to the Trusted Sites list (I have). The Updates worked fine until just recently, and I haven't changed the settings at all. There's very little chance of virus or trojan since I just assembled the computer this morning.
Any ideas? I'm really at your mercy since dial-up is horrible for troubleshooting online. I can't even ask for help from Microsoft because the e-mail requires the same ActiveX controls and such. Is there any way to "repair" Internet Explorer? (People on the web said that the same thing occurs with Fire-fox, and I haven't found any working solutions yet).
I'm running Windows XP SP2 on an AMD Athlon 64. If no one has a solution, is there anyway to download the .NET framework? I need it for the ATI CCC (control panel thingy), and yes, I know I could just get the old fashioned control panel, but downloading that with dial-up is worse than downloading the framework.
