Windows update NEVER GOES AWAY!!

I just reformated my comp and now the windows update icon never goes away, its just there....all the time and when I close in Task mrger it reappears within seconds. Plus, it uses up memory.

System specs if they help.

XP pro
9600pro

You retarded!? Right click "My Computer" click on properties, then click on the "Automatic Updates" tab and then turn off automatic updates, I hope you can guide ourself to how to turn it off from there.
