Alright, here's my situation. I just bought a brand new laptop with Windows Vista on it, and I just bought HL2 Holiday 2006 Collection also. My computer is having some serious compatibility issues with all the games I have, like FarCry, and Delta Force Black Hawk Down. Whenever I get a game to start (if i can get it to start) I can usually go through the game menus without any problems, but when i try to actually play a game, It crashes on me. Ive tried running the games in compatibility mode, updating my drivers, but nothing works. I think it may be my graphics card or Vista causing the problems. I have Vista Home Premium, and my graphics card is an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. Please note that I have not yet installed HL2 on my computer, and the reason for that is that I am still downloading it from Steam, and I have Dial-up, so yeah.... but i just want to take care of the problem before I start playing HL2, so any advice would be much appreciated.

I guess I will have to wait and get HL2 downloaded to see if it really works. Thanks man.

the game gives me a node graph out of date error and then the AI disables. not to mention it crashes after about 20 mins of gameplay.

I should note that I have vista ultimate 64bit

>> everything is legal, i bought vista ult 64bit and HL2 <<

has anyone else had this issue? I can play episode one without the node or ai error but it still crashes about every 20 mins.

any help would be appreciated.

"Has anyone else had this issue" you ask? Yes - Pirates.

Also I am also yet to hear of a single program that runs perfectly fine on Vista.

Most games run fine on Vista 32bit, I'm going to say its the 64bit version that is the problem - I've heard it has some issues.

yeah, i have no problem running hl2 and farcry on my pc (vista ultimate 32bit). could indeed be a 64bit problem or even a problem with the crappy chipset graphics.

IE works just fine. :D

I have had one problem game with Vista. Unreal 2 has an issue with the intro getting stuck and going blank, but the game runs fine. I figure pretty much anything made for XP is hit and miss for Vista. Mostly hit, as with Steam games which seem to run fine, but suck up a lot of ram.
