Well, I was installing some new hardware and after I installed everything xp was working fine. But, my mobo did not recognize my CPU so I tried to update my mobo so that it would recognize my cpu. My mobo (a gigabyte) had a write error when I tried to update my mobo. I read around and to fix this, a website said I had to set everything back to default.. so I restarted my comp and went into bios and put everything back to optimized defaults. But, when I tried to restart using the new bios settings windows would not come on. BIOS posts and everything, just when it tries to load the windows I just get a black screen and no hdd/diskette activity. I tried to fool around with windows using the windows cd I have but windows just loads all of the setup files and hangs...

anyhelp would be appreciated thanks.

you need to reset your cmos manually by opening your pc and looking towards the bottom right of your pc. you will see a jumper or a button depending on the board. if its the jumper then just move it over one pin then turn on the pc. it should tell you it restarted the cmos. turn off the pc and put the jumper back where it was then turn on the pc then it should boot into windows fine.
