windows wont restart

I have xp I restart and it just stalls on windows is shutting down when I select restart from shutdown options so I have to manually turn power off/on any solutions?

Did you try Ctrl+Alt+Del + Shutdown?

i dont want to shutdown like that every time...

plus its with restart... I almost never just shutdown

You can restart from task manager, try restarting like that and then try to do it properly.

and sometimes the screen just goes black during startup and I have to turn it off/on again

then it asked if i wanted to run safemode b/c it crashed before and that it was probably some piece of hardware AHH!

I should mention prior the this i was playing americas army and I minized it and shortly after windows went absolutely nuts and discolerized with tons of classic errror messages for xp... so

but the restart problem happend before all that

ok, well it wont even restart on safe mode... also whenever i hit f12 or whatever to edit startup with windows is booting when im done and continue loading windows the screen goes black and i gota manual restart........ )= WTF!?!?!

well I downloaded the EXICUTE prgm to restart and apprently registry is missing an entry

I would probably re-install winxp, but look around more first.
