anyone running this? plz only reply if you are running win xp pro 64-bit (non-pirated). I'm planning on getting this and partitioning my hdd with win xp home on one partition and 64 bit on the other.

I just want to know how 64 bit runs (faster? slower?) and how it runs 32bit native apps vs. 64 bit native apps.

thanks

i dont run it myself. but i knwo people who do. its still a bit buggy. and alot of programs out there dont work fully(or at all).

From what I read, all 32-bit programs run a little slower (eg. computer games' frame rates drop slightly) because you're actually running them in an emulator. I'm awaiting mine in the mail still. With your partitioning you should be fine with the bugs because you can always switch back to xp on it. Just make sure, as you probably already know, do not put the system files of xp home and x64 on the same partition because x64 uses completely different registry and file names. That would make things go crazy :rolling: or not work at all...

Isn't it kinda pointless right now? I mean how many 64 bit programs are out there?

I don't know what the support for hardware is like with the new XP64bit, so I would recommend looking for 64bit drivers for all your hardware before you commit yourself to installing this.

yea your responses are pretty much what i've been reading. i ordered a copy from newegg today so i should have it in about 3 days, but i already know i'm gonna have to switch to xp 32bit for my printing (Canon PIXIMA 3000) but i bought microsoft mouse/keyboard so i shouldn't have to worry about that... 7800gtx should be fine because i know nvidia already has 64bit drivers out. but yea i have a couple extra copies of xp pro laying around so the partitioning should work out good.

one question: would you guys think that 20 gigs is enough space to run xp pro on just for my printing purposes? i dont print large media or anything so it'll just be text, the concern is for windows flipping out cuz it doesn't have enough space.
two question: will having the two partitions with diff os's running degrade the performance of my hdd? 160gb seagate NCQ SATA150

thanks guys

All the hardware I have in my machine runs just fine (see my sig for specs) in x64 edition. I have XP x64 installed on a 40GB drive. Does anyone know if Nod32 will run on XP 64? I haven't tried yet.

20 GB is way too much. I wouldn't do more than 6 GB, and you can probably get away with 4. Remember, Windows can still access other logical partitions, so you don't need a place to store your data on that partition.
Your hard drive performs differently at different locations on the disk, but it won't degrade performance, per se.
