windvd problem.

when i try to start intervideo windvd, the window pops up and then closes back to the desktop within a few seconds. i have version 1. i have contacted intervideo tech support, but they said they do not give support for version 1 anymore :frown: anyone have similar problems?

I couldn't tell you for sure... but considering windvd 1 is about 5-6 years old (I believe), perhaps you should just invest in better DVD playing software.

If you want to troubleshoot it somewhat, however, try playing the DVD in Windows Media Player 9 or later. If the windvd codec is correctly installed, WMP should be able to play it. If it can't, that's your problem.

If you go to the WinDVD or PowerDVD site, you should be able to download a limited trial. Try one of those and see if they will work for you. If those don't, you know that the problem is not with the DVD software but rather your computer (most likely an Operating System bug of some sort).

i used to have a newer version of powerdvd but i got a new pc about 2 years ago and i misplaced the disk. the powerdvd trial worked on my new pc.
