[WiP] Goliath

Hey all!
Since there is so much weapon models around at the time I thought I'd share the latest character that I'm modeling. Its based on a Necromunda model, but with some difference. Its still early and I'm just trying to get the feel of how it should look.. sort of a rough model. This is as far as I've gotten for this year.. going home tomorrow to celebrate the new year with some friends so wont be able to do much more with it before the weekend :) C&C welcomed! And a HAPPY NEW YEAR! :thumbs:

Very low-poly indeed. It needs some work. If you work on it, it should turn out fine.
 
small nose and eyes far apart are making him look a bit baby faced

Beldor, you forgot to tell them that is a model for Gang War :O
I think he does need some ears :rolling:
 
Well, knowing myself how the Goliaths look, I'd say that apart from being rather low-poly, it's quite a good rendition. I like the proportions.
 
sorry guys, but we havent quite entered the "Next gen" yet.... only reason why HL2 uses chars with polys up to 7000 or sumthing, is because it's a singleplayer game...
now, this would be pretty idea for a UT2K3 model...

I think most of you guys are way too spoiled

even farcry uses about 2000 polys on their models..they just look good because of the polybump(normal mapping)

about the model... i think it's very nice, but i think you need to fix the joint to be more animatable (more polies)
 
Do you mean 2k polys is much? Haha, I got a 2,8k model for TS, and it does run great with it. I think almost everyone will get their hands on a good gfx card sometime before\after they get HL2, and a 5k (v_)model isn't a big problem for HL (I used on before for CS), so I think HL2 also will manage it ;)

And its always possible to optimize it if we find out that its waaay to high poly...
 
Ok, back from holiday with a small update..

St0lve: yeah, forgot to mention he is for the gang war mod :)

I'm not thinking polys at all right now, just trying to get the feel of the character and what he should look like. Optimizing or adding polys comes later on :)
I have made some small adjustments here and there.. made him abit shorter and toned down the muscles abit.. I think that too much will cause problems when it comes to animate him. Also added some nails and etc.. see if that would fit him or not :)

Can you do a render minus the wireframe? It'll make it easier to see how the model would actually look (for me anyhoo)
 
The face looks much better... is that a side-effect of removing the wireframes, or did you alter it?

There seem to be a couple of problems with his wrists showing through his... err... spiky wrist-thingies...

As I said on IRC Beldor, he looks very nice and goliath"-ish"
 
Brian: I noticed that myself so I fixed it fast.. but not fast enough I guess ;)
It was just a thing that happend because I had moved the arms abit.

I have made some small changes here and there since the last images, and I guess one can see things clearer without the wire aswell. Still altot to fix but I think I'm getting there now :)
