WIP Ivory Tower JUST STARTED

I am working on a Halo 2 (yeah I know lame consoles blah blah I hate them too, I just like Halo =/) conversion to Half life 2 map. One of my personall favorites and that I think could work for Half Life 2 deathmatch. Ivory tower... I just started this literally like 10 minutes ago, was thinking about it for the past few days. Here's a screenie of the VERY early beginninges down in attachments.

If anyone else has played this map on Halo 2 then you'd know about that strange scripted elevater thing. There are these constant... moving platform things that go upward then go into a little slot and disappears and they do that over and over again in the map. I dont know if you can do this in HL2 map editting I just might put in a ladder. Any suggestions would be nice.

Update I got that corner like 15% done :P. Still need to put in plants and such where they left in and put in the wall that has the glass in there and all that. Wont take me long but not tonight.

if you make this map that would be sick, i love that map in halo 2....
 
cool idea, and I think you can do that elevator thing you described.... then again, I'm going only on what you described, I haven't actually played that level... you just basically have a few brushes that move in square, but that square goes through a wall
 
Yeah I am pretty determined for the same reason, I love that map too.

Also those blocks look like they are going through eachother, no they arent. I am running my Xbox (most PC players know it as Suxbox, right on) at the same time that I edit the map on my PC, so that I get as much right as possible (duh why wouldnt someone do that). Those blocks arent going through eachother, I cut/shortened, I just editted them all right to make them the way they are on Halo 2. They are like that so yeah but thanks for tryin to let me know if somethin's going through somethin or whatever.

One thing that I know I will be disappointed on though is textures. Like that wood texture; Personally I am not very good at texturing, I am a master in photoshop just textures arent my thing. I wish I had a better texture for the wood on that circle platform but I am trying to do the best I can. As for the Trees which are in the map, I can only hope they have a few 3d entities of the same type of trees haha if not then can I import models from Maya to the map editor like Unreal ED? If I can then I am going to need someone to texture the tree.

ADDED EDIT: Also if you see that back wall over there, by the spawn entity. That wall is going to be cut up as well and will look neat. In Halo 2 that wall is cut up and has a sort of glass on it, like a strange metallic glass thing I dunno, but I might just make it unbreakable glass. There are also 2 doors next to eachother in the center, not openable of course (Like I said this is the corner of the map your seeing) so you will be seeing a lot more detail once I get further in the map of course :D.

Dude dont be rude, the post even says IT JUST STARTED!! I just wanted to see if anyone would suggest anything or help me with the elevator thing that I might not even be able to do since it would have to be a continous script that loops like in Halo 2.

You're posting screens from work that, by your own admission, took ten minutes of your time. It looks like a random series of six or perhaps seven brushes thrown together to make god-knows-what. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be mean, but it's really best to hold off posting shots of your work until you've put in a respectable amount of effort. Its a bit pointless posting such early screens since it really does nothing to help anyone answer your question anyways.
 
I posted screens maybe for a player of Halo 2 who might enjoy seeing that someone is trying to make progress in a map from a game which he appreciates and would like to see as some kind of modded to another game. There was nothing wrong with me posting even the beginnings of my map. I am not attacking you and I definetly dont want a flame on my post, just stop making comments. If you thought it was an ignorant thing for me to do, then go back to the index of custom mapping and look at something else. No reason to come in here and try to start something and both you and I know that you know better than something like that. These forums are free to what any of the community wants to post on it as long as it follows the policies of the forum and the sub-forum, and I think mine meet that. Please if you have nothing positive to post please dont post at all.

Anyway I had about 3 more rooms a long with a couple of 3d entities added in, when hammer crashed on me for no obvious reason.

And on one of the ramps that lead to the third floor there is something that in Halo is called "over shield". What should I put in place of that in Half life? Is there is some kind of way I can edit the Suit chargers so they charge to a larger than normal number? If I can do this I will do that just to try it on the map, test it a few times with my friends and if its too uber then I will probally just knock it down to a full suit charge of batteries.
 
Keep in mind, quality not quantity, i wouldn't like to see a solid map being rushed
