It's probably a dumb question, but I've never had one before, so shut up.

Ok, so my XBOX and Wii are upstairs, and my computer (along with my internet connection) are downstairs, basically on opposite ends of my house. I know I need a router, but can someone tell me how they work?

Not the technical stuff, but like, do I plug my net connection into it near my computer, then put some receiver near my Xbox or something?

The xbox 360 does not have wireless built in, you would have to buy an additional adapter for it.

The wii on the other hand has wireless built in but it only supports WEP encryption which can be fairly insecure.

Basically all you have to do is take the modem from your ISP and plug it directly in to the WAN port on the router you purchase (I would recommend linksys). Then the easiest thing for you to do would be to run the installation CD that comes with the router so that you can secure everything.

Hope that helps.

Really? because I recommend Belkin

Why would you recommend belkin?

Hmmm

I'm pretty sure belkin = re-branded off brand average quality stuff that is priced at premium prices. They don't design anything. They buy stuff and put their label on it.

where as Linksys is a pioneer in the business that develops new technologies and has been a world leader for years
