Oh man. Just when I feared the appreciation of old awesomeness might be waning they spring this on us!! Atlus (or someone as kick-ass) better start gearing up for an NA pub!!

First is a PS3 game, to be published by Acquire. Details are slim, but Wizardry: Torawareshi Damashii no Meikyou (Wizardry: Dungeon of Imprisoned Souls) is supposedly hitting the Japanese PlayStation Network this Fall, according to a report by Siliconera. The release would mark the first time the Wizardry series becomes available on a current generation console.

Next up is a Nintendo DS game, Wizardry: Seimei no Kusabi (Wizardry: Pledge of Life). Supposedly, this will be a 3D dungeon RPG that will be available exclusively on Amazon Japan, almost guaranteeing high resale value on eBay for years to come.

Somehow I doubt it will reach our stores, seeing as the first Wizardry for DS hasn't even been released in English, not to mention the latest PSP Wizardry that came out in 2007.

No huge loss though, not IMO anyway, seeing as I played the PS2 Wizardry game that was released, and though they are decent games, they don't hold a candle in hell to the original Wizardry series(Which was American fyi, not Japanese)

I still own the original "Wizardry Ultimate Archives" on PC :)

Oh Sir-Tech.. How we miss you :(

You got me excited for Wizardry 9...

Well, I am still hoping that with the relative success of games like The Dark Spire and Etrian Odyssey 1 & 2 over here that we may just see this come out. Quite a few games that I never would have thought would be released in NA have been or are scheduled to be like Fragile, Muramasa, and Demon's Souls just to name a few. Hopefully they will both be great games and do the Wizardry name proud.

Now all I really need is the two Legacy of the Ancients games and The Bard's Tale series ported/retooled and I will be a happy fellow.

Please, please don't **** this up. RPG gamers have lost too much to deal with.

They won't **** it up for JRPG fans, and the Japanese version of Wizardry fans(Wizardry is still going strong in Japan fyi, but the only real thing it has in common with the original american Wizardry RPG series is theme and name)

But any fans of the good ol' proper Wizardry's, like VII and VIII, shouldn't get their hopes up.

I wonder, VictimOfScience, did you play the original Wizardry games(I.e. the non-Jap ones)?

Yes indeed. I have 1-7 and they are were amazing for their time and got me into other great games (though some not nearly as good) like Dragon Wars and Keef the Thief and the Dungeon Master games and the Eye of the Beholder series (II is imho the best of all these types of games). I prefer these first person dungeon crawlers to the likes of Ultima Underworld, Wizardry 8, etc. I don't like the full 3D environments for whatever reason. As such, Wizardry 7 was the last that I played and it was AWESOME and likely my favorite.
