what i've been waiting to hear:

Activision has finally revealed new information on the long-awaited Wolfenstein game...

And Wolfenstein multiplayer is back in its class-based team objective form.

RTCW was only memorable because of it's steller MP, the single player game was mediocre at best ..this latest Wolfenstein could get the single player right for a change but most importantly:

"Wolfenstein multiplayer is back in its class-based team objective form"

hopefully they wont throw some of the magic based weapons in the multiplayer ..keep it realistic to ww2 (as much as is possible in a wolfenstein game)

Your job is to investigate some mysterious powers from a dark parallel dimension, in case you were wondering, which will involve joining with resistance forces and getting to grips with both a conventional and supernatural arsenal.

Doesn't sound appealing for singleplayer but whatever, it's a Wolfenstein game. But... if it's class-based objectives multiplayer you want, why not play Quake Wars?

Oh and wrong forum...

because it's not Wolfenstein ..I was disappointed to hear that they were taking Enemy Territory and setting it in the Quake universe ..it worked better as a ww2 game imho

Quake Wars was still pretty fun, if they take what they learned from that and incorporate it into RTCW's MP, we could have a real winner on our hands.

but wouldnt that just be a remake of RTCW: enemy territory? which is what Quake wars is except with the aliens instead of zee germans

Vehicles, huge maps, expanded class system, unlocks, etc.

I'd prefer vanilla RTCW over vehicles etc ..the original was as close to a perfect MP game as is possible

it flopped becauise no one cares about Quake ..seriously, bury that franchise already, id doesnt have an original bone in it's body. they've been milking the quake thing for faaar too long

it also came out at the wrong time and couldnt compete with other more popular games released at the same time ..despite being a good game it was largely ignored

ET:QW didn't really flop that badly, it still has thousands of players online.

Are they using the new id engine for this? Can't remember it's name.

how did the console version do?

tf2 kicked Quake to curbside for a lot of people

ET:QW on the console did extremely poorly because games like that don't usually do too hot on consoles.

team based mp games? I cant think of any other console game that just has mp

That's great but it's impossible to find a server with players in Australia. Hence why I consider it a flop.

Got to say im still playing Quake Wars, and IMO its 1 of the best team based MP games out ATM (apart from project reality). I just think people didnt give it a proper chance.

Cant wait for this summer tho, Wolfenstein was top dog, just hope they can do it justice.

ET:QW was REALLY fun.....I remember getting into the Beta and having so much fun. Then I bought it...and haven't played it much since.

Oh well! Why would the Quake universe have anything to do with this game? I can't really think of much besides names of races/guns/etc that really make it the universe different than some random Sci Fi thing. if it's someone like me, the only thing quake universe about it is the name...hardly enough to steer me away.

QW really isn't fit to lick RTCW's boots. Setting aside, RTCW slaughters it in terms of gameplay. RTCW was also better than ET, but the gap wasn't so big (everything ET borrowed from RTCW was still good. Everything it introduced was wank).

If we get a return to the tight, team focused gameplay of the original this'll be something special. If we get ET:QW in a WW2 setting (pls god no vehicles!) it'll be shizen poopen!

rtcw was best with the shrub mod ..tripwire dynamite > everything

Its hard to find a server of any kind is Australia. ooooh burn.

Took 2 seconds http://games.on.net/gameservers.php

Australia > You. Several of the big ISPs host very friendly gaming networks.

http://network.gamespace.net.au/?sb_page=query
http://www.gamingsa.com/?p=servers
http://www.3fl.net.au/serverspy/

I could go on. Browsing various forums I always hear people bitch and moan about servers run by complete arse hats but I've never had to deal with such a situation. And I find it absolutely hilarious when EU/US fags join our Zombie Panic Source servers.
