Last weekend, we attended a web demo of Wolfram Alpha, a new "computational knowledge engine" based on the work of Stephen Wolfram. Some have dubbed Alpha a "Google killer," but, in reality, it is very different from the standard search engines that we are all familiar with today.

example:

search query: Oakland, generates this response:

wow that's pretty awesome. imagine the info you can get with a word like boobs ..tons of info on boobs. all at your fingertips ..the soft caressing .....

The Senior Partners are very evil, very powerful demons.

Looks more like a Wikipedia killer to me (although even that is hyperbole).

Either way it looks really fascinating and potentially very useful.

wow, that's pretty impressive. It shows all the information that I definitely don't need.

Nothing will kill Google. Google is more than its search engine. Google is an amazing pioneering company that sides with the people.
