i just noticed in the last hl2 ep2 trailer at the very end dr kielner was back the what was very simalar to the room that we were in before jumping into the xen portal back in hl1...... im telling your thinking im nuts but just wait i got a 100 bucks that says were going back!!!

You do realize that there is a giant rocket/missile/ballistic-cheese-delivery-device in the middle of the room. They're in an abandoned missile silo, no teleports there.

i sure hope so... i was really looking forward to going back in hl2... but was alittle dissapointed when the explotion at the end didnt leave us all puzzled and knocked out in Xen.... can you post a pic of this room from the E2 trailer?

Why do you need a rocket-thingy to goto xen?

Edit: Well, 2 people said it before i could.

you will get to see xen source just wait a bit for black mesa source. Then the story on the source engine will be connected to the first.

CANT WAIT FOR BM:S IM GONNA SHIT MY PANTS!

The Lambda Complex Teleporter in HL1 was huge. Kleiner is standing in a small, cramped missile silo in that trailer...

How do you figure that's the same room?

thats not even in the same area as the portal to go to xen. its a missle silo.

YOU CANNOT TAKE A ROCKET TO XEN ITS A SEPERATE DIMENSION. There, I've said it for you all.

If we do go to Xen in EP2 then most of EP3 will be based in Xen. But I do think we'll see Xen in Source first in BM:S before EP3 shows it

Like Atomic_Piggy said before: Xen is in another dimension, no possible way off going there with a rocket.

And I don't think we'll be going back. Not even in Ep3 nor HL3...

Maybe some other extraterrestrial place in HL3...Combine homeworld?
GMan's world? Other Combine invaded world? The decor for the final showdown ;)

I think they added the hive in Ep2 for al you Xen-fanboys.
It has some of that Xen-look and mood doesn't it?

Probably not in Episode Two, but it wouldn't surprise me if Xen was in Episode Three since Xen is under Combine control it would make a good climax to fight them there.

Or maybe we could just stay on Earth?:E

Xen might not be under Combine control. We won't know unless we revisit it. :p

Man i loved Xen.. i hope that we get to go back..... or some creepy alien world like Xen.

Last time I heard from Gman he said it was under their control..altough maeby not anymore..as he say's ''Xen is under our control, for the time being''
This happens in HL1 though..so I dont expect it to be the truth anymore..

Xen will most likely be just empty space and even less debris as it was in HL1 so there's really no point visiting it.

I want to see Xen from Valve not a mod team.

How come?
And I hope Xen plays some part in Episode Three, or Episode Four, either (or both) will be fine. Many people didn't like it because of the "uber hard jumping puzzles" (I'm not the best player, but I had no trouble), and Valve often listen to thier community. Just look at their comments on Shepard. 'Course they don't mean nothing :p

Well, if you watched the stuffs aroundBlack Mesa in half life 1, I saw a rocket. Black Mesa is an abandoned missle silo, so maybe they are taking sutff from rockets to make another teleporter? hm? HM? thank you.

The only piece of evidence so far that suggests Xen in any Episode is a Valve employee recently stating that Episode 3 would take us "even further away from City 17" (Quote may not be exact, but it was along those lines)

I took this to mean the Combine Homeworld. They've certainly got an idea for what it looks like (see: teleporter at the end of HL2), so I imagine they'll want to show us it at one stage. However visiting the homeworld to defeat the enemy is amazingly corny and already done in Half Life 1 with an almost impossible amount of subtlety.

It could mean Xen. I can't see any reason to go back though. It is being kept under control by G-man and his employers which probably means no one can enter it. Although that does make you wonder why they let all of the Xen wildlife escape to Earth. Oh wow, I'm theorizing on the run here. What if the portal storms weren't created by the death of the Nihilanth (****ing sp?) but they were triggered by the G-employers take-over of Xen, whether directly or indirectly. Some theories already persist in assuming the G-man engineered the entire Black Mesa incident just to train up Gordon. What's more damage to Earth?

/me stops

Or alternatively, we could just end up travelling to the Arctic Base which is an entirely new environment, with no City/Citadel in sight.

There is no Half-Life 3, Episodes 1-3 are Half-Life 3, just in smaller portions.
Kinda like how they are gonig to make SiN Episodes.

They have never denied a third full game. They are probably eternally kicking themselves for that comment. They just consider the three episodes to be as important as making Half Life 3.

It's kinda like how Valve said shortly after releasing the original Half-Life that it was in fact Half-Life 2 because they started development of the game over from scratch, and what was actually released was the second revision.

When they say "the episodes are Half-Life 3" it's meant in the sense of "the episodes are the logical sequel of the series, they are not expansion packs that you can ignore, this is a direct continuation of the story". It's not precluding them making either another episodic trilogy if this one is well received, or making the blockbuster monolithic Half-Life 3.

I just feel bad about them trying to come up with names for these things. "HL2: Aftermath" sounds too much like an expansion, "HL3: Episode One" would disappoint a lot of people when it turned out that Episode One was a lot like HL2 in style, setting and general content, and "HL2: Episode One" sounds like it's the first part of HL2.

Xen is a "dimensional bottleneck" that is often a place of conflict - it makes sense to revisit it. It could be on the way to somewhere else or as a way to prevent the combine reaching earth again.

Xen isnt a bridge to cross to get to Earth...they can come directly over.

In Raising the Bar, it is said that every city center had a Citadel...we blew up one. There are still at least 16 other Citadels with portals that they can open up soon (perhaps the explosion of C17's Citadel reestablished the link that was broken when it melted down)

And then the combine can come through from any of the other cities and get their stuff back on Earth...

yes, of course, silly me.

The good thing is that we blew up the main one.
Just because Breen setup his HQ in City17 doesn't mean that the citadel was special in any way from the Combines point of view. I wouldn't mind seeing other citadels in Episode Three/Half-Life 3.

Apperantely, the City 17 is the only one... was the only one with a big badass teleporting machine at the top. So there may or may not be other citadels but the City 17 one is obviously the most important one.

Completely different place. Firstly, the two areas look completely different. Secondly, Black Mesa is a crater. It got nuked. Sorry.

Xen is, and probably will remain, my all-time favorite scenario in a video game, so you know that I'd love for us to return. But currently, it doesn't seem like we'll be making a return trip to the borderworld any time soon.

So what wanted to say Dr.Breen with this:".....in the Citadel so thoughtfully provided by our Benefactors....."? he wanted to say that there are more of this citadels??

Source/Evidence please.

This implies that other citadel's have portal technology.

OT: How many citadels are out there - one per city or are there others in less populated regions?

Well it is mentioned in Ep 1 that the Combines communication network has been knocked out, presumably this would mean that they have no way of reaching their dimension from earth.
They had to blow the Citadel to transmit a single data package for heavens sake.
