World in Conflict gameplay demonstration!

Looks very impressive.

It still seems like Ground Control with 80's units. And thats fantastic.

"at 1st when I heard no base building I was meh"
This is one of the problems imo with gamers today, they love being overcritical of new things, atleast some of them do.:>

CrazyHarij, you are aware this is being made by the exact same guys who made GC1 and 2, right?:p

I'm sure he is. Though it does seem they roll out the "no bases" concept every few years as something new and fantastic. And, while it is fantastic and I love it, its definetly not new.

Looks pretty cookie-cutter. I didn't know helicopters levitated perfectly still while firing missiles. I did like GC2 though.

StardogChampion, keep in mind the game is still in alpha-stage, and besides, levitate perfectly I guess they don't, but one helicopter tactic that I've seen taught to US pilots is the pop-up fire, basically the chopper hoovers behind say, a small hill, it hoovers up, fires off a salvo at the target in question, then pops back down, this in order to protect itself from things like heat-seeking SAMs.

This is the best looking game I've ever seen, it's amazing. The sheer amount of detail :O

Woah just woah...

looks cool, but why can't any game ever get air combat right? The closest I've seen was TA or Supcom, but even that wasn't that great. I'm sick of static choppers sitting in one place and shooting. Yes choppers can hover, but they usually strafe around and make a few passes in reality. The nuke cloud looks very impressive, but the actual damage the nuke does is tiny.

Agreed. They'd probably work better as an off-map asset like air or artillery strikes.

Game looks schweet though.

Doesn't look like anything too special atm.

Joint Task Force handles choppers and aircraft pretty well in all honesty.

I feel the same way. I would be sold if there ever was a RTS where a chopper flanked a tank by flying around a building and shooting its weaker side. Off course it all comes down to how much effort the devs put into it.

Even a chopper simply strafing sideways to avoid a direct RPG hit would have me picking up my jaw (It doesn't always have to work, at least we can see our AI comrades actually being intelligent to avoid a dumb-fired rocket :frown: )

oh it is? then it's got my seal of approval :D
