hhhmmm I don't know, snakes generally grow larger in captivity due to being fed more and liveing alot longer.

Well, 50 feet is unlikely, but I'm pretty sure that there were some extraordinarily large spiders back in prehistoric times.

You see, arachnids don't have many of the biological size restrictions that insects do. Book lungs instead of spiracles, fr'instance. And we know that there were foot-long dragonflys way-back-when, and there were sea scorpions that could concievably have eaten a human, so why not a spider about... oh, say, 3 meters wide?

Would that be cute, or what? You could keep one as a pet!
