My friend gave me his WoW account because he doesn't want to pay the fees and he also gave me his copy of WoW. This sets me up very nicely, I hope.

I've been changing all the account info to represent me, not my friend. But, I can't change the phone number or e-mail address, and from what I've heard, you need the phone number or e-mail address to be accurate to authenticate billing options or whatever (so you can pay). I don't want to e-mail Blizzard and have to lie to them saying I just moved or I just changed my e-mail or whatever and get in trouble. Is this a problem? Or is it perfectly legal/ok, and I can tell them the truth?

EDIT: I just hope it's alright so I can continue to persuade my parents to pay for me. I'm getting some promising results like, "we will talk about this later, I have a head ache" or, "what's this game about anyway?". Well, ok, it's not too promising, but I'm trying.

I have done some research and found that it is acceptable in the last EULA (end user license agreement) that I read.

To transfer ownership of the game he must give you all the passwords, usernames, CD, box, all the paperwork and instruction manual. He must remove/destroy the game and anything pertaining to the game from his hard drive He can give it to you or sell it to you, so long as he is not selling you items or characters in the game becuase those belong to Blizzard.

So contact your friend and get all the information. I think what you need is the secret question/answer in order to change the password and email adress.

I don't see any reason to contact Blizzard

I already changed the password so he couldn't change his mind. :P
Oh, and to change e-mail and phone number info you HAVE to e-mail or phone them.

And, he didn't give me the CDs box or anything like that. He copied it for me a while ago and I just asked him recently if I can steal his account. But, I guess that shouldn't be a problem... probably. *Dr. Freeman shoves in the sample only to blow up all of Black Mesa*

A new account? Fine, I'll pay $60 for something I can get free legally from a friend.

You don't need to change that. Just have him end his subscription then you renew the subscription with your credit card.
