Worrying release date in CTO :(

hey all

I just got my latest copy of CTO ( Computer Trade Only )
a magazine thats usually only availiable to the Trade and Half-Life 2 is in there Heres a Quote :

'The Half-Life circus has been threatening to roll into town for the best part of two years, but programming deadlines, marketing campaigns and thieving hackers permitting, it should be with us this December.

At the top of the artical it says :
Release Date: December 31st.

I hope this isnt true and is just a guesstimate, but CTO isnt your average gaming magazine, id say its hardly read by many gamers at all?

I dont know where they got that date from, but you can be sure i hope it aint right

Oh, and it isn't correct. All signs are towards everything from Late august to Early October.

It's just a guess, unless Valve says otherwise.

Basically, every release date out there is random. The game's still set to come out in the next month or so.

They'v ealready started the pre-loads so I can imagine it's coming up shortly. I doubt they'd start 4 months from the release. Added to the estimate the they'd have the gold ready (any dya now by my calculations), leads me to believe that magazine has no better ideea than the rest of us.

Here's a good tip: only believe release dates that come from Valve. Hmm, September 30th 2003... maybe not. Who cares about release dates anyways, there's many factors that can make them change. The game will be out when it's done.

PCG claims to have another exclusive 1st review coming in it's next issue. Unless they pre-hype a month early like they did with the Doom III review, HL2 won't be released until PCG's gets it's review out...PCG comes out early-to-mid Sept, HL2 should come out a week or two after.

Keep in mind we are only getting textures, models, and audio content today, stuff that VU has already okayed (I'm assuming), and won't change by the release date.

How long do you think it might take between that being OKed and put together with HL2 and for HL2 to get approval?
