Hey guys, I am a total computer newbie and I was just wondering if this is a good computer for the price:

-AMD Athlon XP 2500+
-VIA KT400 Enhanced DDR400 Chipset
-200/266/333MHz FSB and UDMA-133 Support
-DDR PC3200, 8X AGP and USB 2.0 Support
-512MB PC3200 (400MHz) DDR RAM
-80 GB UDMA-133 7200 RPM Hard Drive
-CDRW/DVD COMBO DRIVE 48X24X48X16
-AMD Tower Case 350 Watt
-ATI Radeon 9200 8X AGP 128MB
-Daewoo 17" FST Monitor
-10/100 Ethernet NIC
-Keyboard and Wheeled mouse
-Premium 5.1 6 Channel Sound
-Premium 5.1 Speakers w/Subwoofer
-AMD Certified Power Supply
-Windows XP Home Edition

This is a $700 system I found and I was just wondering if it will be easily upgradeable and if it will run higher end games right now... Thanks for any help I get!

yah cept that video card isnt too hot, you might want to upgrade that for optimal graphics and performance, if you have the money that is.

You might wanna save up for a better Radeon, like a 9800 or something, but your processer and memory look fine.

EDIT...woops...beat me to it.

EDIT again: How'd you find a system like that for $700 anyway?

You need to budget an additional $50 for the actual game.

BTW, since the minimum specs have pretty much been released, the answer to your question is already known. Now if you want an estimate of how many details, what resolution, and what FPS, we could make something up but since none of us KNOWS we'd really just be trying to make ourselves sound smart.

Well the 9200 is probly like a Ti4400. For max specs a geforce 4 was needed. He could upgrade for better quality and more fps. BTW merc were you in a 5th rangers clan in DoD?

Considering a 9100 pro is equal to a Ti4200, and a 9500 is about a Ti4600 and a 9600 is about a Ti4800SE, i would think that a 9200 pro would be around the performance of a Ti4400.

Your specs are close to what i will be upgrading to, except the gfx card.

This aint good then

Cause ive only got the Radeon 9000 pro 128 ddr mb :(

everything loos good for playablity, but if u want it to kick get 9700/9800 pro 1 gig of that 3200 ram just to be safe and a nforce 2 mobo, just my preference ;)
btw that barton should be very overclockable.

The 9100 is a renamed 8500, nothing new. The 9200 is based on the R350 and it's slower than the 9100, and about the same league as a 9000.

9000 & 9200 are Geforce4 MX levels in speed, but have DirectX8 support which the Geforce4 MX's lack. 9100 is more like Geforce 3 levels, not Geforce 4.

I'd change the video card considering you can get a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 for just a LITTLE more... surely you can sacrifice something... maybe eat a few things less.
