I want 2 gig of memory, and people are telling me something about dualchannel etc, and thus I would need 2x 1024 mb clices of memory

curently I am looking at the following
1GB x 2 (2GB) PC3200 DDR, CL3 (OCZ, OCZ4002048PFDC-K)

would this work fine
with the following configuration?:
Code:

[LIST]
[*]Mobo: [COLOR="red"]DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D[/COLOR]
[*]CPU: [COLOR="red"]AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (2,2GHz, 2x1MB)[/COLOR]
[/LIST][/FONT]

If not, could someone reccomend me a better solution?

I would chose CL2.5 instead of 3. (well I would choose CL2 but that's because i'm overclocking, you probably don't need very tight timmings).

Edit: oh yea I remember the DFI is pretty strict on the RAM, it likes low latency. 2.5 should be fine though.

This thread reminds me of Harry Potter.

Yeah what he said. CL3 would work but it's a bit slow in comparison with CL2.5 so if it isn't over your budget I would get the model with CL2.5.

I can get CL2 corsair for around the same price, would that be ok to? or is OCZ simply a better choice ..

OCZ and Corsair are both excellent memory. I know OCZ is generally cheaper and I'd probably recommend that. Although if they are the same price Corsair is def. an option.

I have some older Corsair XMS that is PC2700 2-2-2-5 and I have it currently running at PC3200 and still holding 2-2-2-5 with no voltage increase.

yup, you can easly clock them on standard air cooling to the 2,7 ghz 0,3 higher then the 4800 model

Yeah I've heard a lot of good stuff about OCing those X2's. Just don't get your hopes up because I've also heard a lot of ppl who thought the same and couldn't OC well. They were a bit disapointed, which is expected, but it like drawing straws.
