WOW Look, Shield in CS: Source *Screenshot*

In CS: Source, you can spawn the shield by typing this in the console: give item_shield . The problem is, when you walk over it, it disappears. Wow, shield looks so nice, makes me want to have a petition to put shield back in CS: Source.


Wow, the shield is...beautiful. Could this mean, shield may be added in later updates?

Do you just have your pistol and knife? Could be a bug that if you have a primary wepon it just deletes the object or something. >.>

The shield was in CS:S up until a few weeks ago, I'd imagine they didn't code it out or something.
 
The shield would be far better in Source then it would in the original due to better hit detection. The shield should have been left in for the beta, to see how the beta players coped with it.
 
Yeah, the shield was just left in as a model, as they didnt want to code it out. The same thing happened with half-life, several monsters were left in but not actually in the game.
 
I bet they are going to raise the shield from the DEADDD or something >.>. Atleast I have my shield in 1.6*pets his shield*

im sure if they put the shield in the source they would make it a bit more fair dont you think? i kinda miss it, im not a big user of the shield but i would have loved to check it out on the source
 
Oh yes, lets ask them to put it back in. One week later the people wanting it in will come back crying about some exploit. Last thing we need is more bitchers
 
the shield is a pretty good idea but it doesnt really work well,
most of times ppl just camp in corner or just stand infront of u with it, waiting for u to empty ur mag, but i never do that i aim at their head waiting for them to remove shield :LOL:

i wouldnt mind if they put it back in i dont hate the shield but when 3 or 4 ppl use it it gets lame they should restrict it to 1 or 2 per team
 
i don't care if people like the shield or not. I think that they shoulda left it in and the people who don't want to play with the shield can just decide not to use it...or join servers where the shield is blocked from buying...

I would like to see the shiled in CS:S. I think that on the Scource engine it would have a better reception because of the better physics.

Imagine if you put your hand out the window while driving and leave it flat. Your hand sclices the air so there is not a whole lot of force pushing on your hand. Now stand you hand up and (depending on how fast you are going) The air will push against your hand quite a bit.

Now imagine the force of a nearby grenade blast exerting force against a big wide sheild you are holding... it could slam you up against the wall, disorienting you something like the flashbangs (without the flash and retina burn). I for one have already noticed how dropped weapons fly about when there is a nade set off near them. I think that something like this with the shield would be a really nice addition to the gameplay.
 
Wow, I really don't see how people can disslike the sheild this much. I for one would really like to see it in, especially in cs:s.

Thats maby why it would have been better in CS:S. They could give you the chanse of shoting through the little window. That way, for eksample,

In Italy
The Ts hostage house and the long tunnel
T with awp in house window
CT with shield tounting him by standing still at bottem
T=> :sniper:-----[little window]--:x <=CT

It would be a little bit harder than a headshot to compensate for that the shielder cant shot and walks slower.

This way they wouldent be invincible at long range. And make them a little bit easyer to kill at lose range to.

But for gods sake! do not make the shield like it is in cz(where you can shot the shielders feet, noone would have made such a uneffective shield in real life)
 
Those shields actualy look pretty cool they look like celshaded

Actually, they do make some shields leave the feet unprotected in real life. It cuts down on the weight they have to carry... and if they see an enemy they just duck down a bit and rest it on the floor to cover their feet.
 
I never had a problem with the shield when it was used HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE. It's those god damn glitchers that made me not care at all when the shield was taken out.
 
If they got rid of a few bugs and if players can shoot through the viewing hole, it could be a great addition.

A full shield that can stop the kinds of rounds used in an AWM can be up to 150lbs and you would have to push it around on wheels.



I'd like to see a game (not necessarily CS) with varying levels of shields and two sizes for each level, it would be closer to real life and you'd have to pay more for protection from bigger weapons. I'll be skipping the intermediate A versions of each level for the sake of simplicity. First, you give every weapon a level of armor needed to fully block it:

I - most pistols and the knife (IRL they block up to .38 special lead round nose or .22 long rifle hi velocity)
II - SMG's, shotguns, and the DE (high velocity .357 magnum or medium velocity 9mm FMJ)
III - assault rifles and the scout (7.62x51mm FMJ)
IV - the M249, bigger sniper rifles, and grenades (.30-06 AP)

A shield one level below that would absorb most of the damage... while a shield 3 levels below would barely absorb any damage. Then, you have to choose between the full (slower run speeds, more protection, more expensive) and half shields.

The big, tough shields cost about $12,000 in real life... and the smaller, weaker shields go down to a couple of hundred dollars. So, on the beginning pistol round you could buy a half-body Level I shield (if you skip kevlar) and some pistol ammo... but if you use it when everyone has rifles you'll be screwed.



BTW: Reaperman, those are riot shields, not ballistic shields. They are for blocking rocks/bottles/etc and holding people back. They make ballistic shields that size, too... but I had to point it out.
 
Well i think valve should have left the shield only for the beta. Who knows, we might really like it in the source and keep it for the final version.
 
just wondering, but are there NVG in CS:S? i havent used em since, like, 1.0. but i was wondering if they were still in there. maybe sour e made em look cool...
 
I'd have no problem with it if it were the same shield as in cz.
 
i really hope they bring the shield back.. i mean only pple who do not know how combat or use the shield are the ones complaining about it.

come on Valve.. don't give in to the whinning!! :|
 
Good find efficient! :thumbs: I hope they impliment the use of the shield at some point in the BETA. I'd like to see how it works in Source!
 
Looks nice, but I thought they completely removed it? oh well maybe it will make a comeback some time soon :)
 
I hate the shield. I can barely use it. The shielders are easy to kill though.. Just run up to them and fire your galil (ak, m4, famas) at their heads, and MAKE SURE its like your jamming your pistol through the glass partition you can see through. Thats how I usually kill them..

Or go up to them and start circling them...
 
Well, I want them back because they look good.

Oh and this might be off topic, but in CS:S, I like how if u see an awp, and someone else next to you sees it too, when you both race to try to get it, you can shoot the gun away until it's farther away from him and you can get the gun. =)
