At long last WoW is out in the UK today, I've had it on Pre-order for what seems like eons and I'm glad to say it *SHOULD* be here today! I think I may have had it on pre-order since it appeared on Amazon.co.uk

Is anyone else getting it today or had the CE version sent to them yesterday? I'd be interested to meet up with fellow HL2.net forum members in game! I'm also starting a guild with a few of my good friends if anyone is interested! :)

Edit - that'll be World of Warcraft for people that didn't know what WoW was :p

Might as well set up a temporary forum just for WoW talk :E tons of threads are popping up. Anyways that's cool you guys get WoW now, I wish there was an international server so we could all play together (me from usa)

I'm hoping an International server will pop up soon, I have friends in both the US and in AUS and really want to play with them :(

Duracell, those are decent forums.. small so far but spread the word and they'll grow :D

I get my copy in the post today, would be good to get on the same server and level up faster.

I'm gonna wait a bit...all my mates have preordered it, but I got bored hitting the LMB 11,000 times per minute. Plus I got lost in Darnassus looking for some annoying bugger. :(

You can't and probably never will be able.

Oh and don't bother looking for Battlegrounds or the PVP honour system (just the stuff in the manual) because its not even finished and not in the game and could be months away by which time you'll be bored to tears with WOW.

Just get used the words 'coming soon' from Blizzard and you'll be ok  :E

I am not going to buy this and get addicted like I did with the beta. No.

*Twitches and starts sweating*

Don't know, I'm stuck whether to get it since I want a lot of other games in the next few months such as Metal Gear Solid 3, Devil May Cry 3, Resident Evil 4 and Dungeon Siege 2. Not sure if I want to spend that much money on games in such a short period of time, plus my University work will go to hell.

Had a look at it in the shop. Not a rpg person myself but was willing to give it a go. Then I saw 1st month play included, other fees apply. So then I thought fukc that, and got hl1 doom doom2 and final doom for £20.

What's the deal with US/EU servers? I've heard people on the European version getting into servers like Warsong.

I got the game through the post yesterday- and stayed up till almost 2 in the morning waiting for the account creation pages to work. When they finally work I remembered that I don't have a credit card. And here I am now, tired from school, with a credit card in my hand, eagerly awaiting the account pages to re-open.

...Any time now...

*edit* Oh btw, go on the bladefist server. You can join our guild- Order Of The Crowbar :p

Haha, same here. I've decided not to buy it because i'll end up playing it all day and all night. I have way too much work to be doing to get addicted to this again.

Doesn't it cost $14.99/month? That's too much for a game.

You aren't really paying $14.99 a month just for the game. You are paying for the servers, for the constant game patches and expansions.

Yes maybe so but why do people always see the very small picture?

If you buy one SP game, it lasts less than a week (most do) and costs you treble what a month of WoW costs and WoW lasts a ga-zillion times longer than any SP game or free MP game.

Not necessarily, for example Counter-Strike has out-lasted any other multiplayer game to date, including MMORPG's (going on a playerbase) and it's free. You're forgetting, a SP game is not just an SP game, most come with multiplayer components that outlast the Single Player experience, which in the case of a good RPG can be quite long.

I'd love to get this game but I think the whole subscription thing is pretty cynical.

I understand they need to pay for the servers etc but it's already setting pc sales records, how much more cash do they need for christ's sake?

Probably just as well that I dont get it anyway though, Morrowind taught me some valuable lessons about the dangers of RPG addiction..

I'd say the best thing for people usure about buying it is to wait and see what sort of support and content Blizzard release for the game.

Currently theres loads of unfinished areas and content (which were even listed as done in the manual) and even bugs from beta 5+months ago which are still in the game. The promise of monthly content updates has also been denied now.

Loads of the US players are being left in the dark because Blizz just keep saying 'be patient, its coming soon....' I even heard someone mention that Battlefields may now even be put on hold until the expansion pack in 1 years time!!!

So you end up paying full price for an 80% finished game then pay them monthly to put in what should have been ready for release?!? Hmmmm

(still got my copy though but I'll play the first month free then cancel until they've finished the game)

I've played my fair share of MP games over the years and i believe CS is a unique MP game, nothing has ever come close to how successful CS is, not even half as close to it. WoW is a new game and its doing extremely well compared to any other MP game to come out in the past 5 years..its the fastest selling PC game of all time in its first week and its not even a free MP game so that says it all. CS is the type of game anyone can pick up and play with an easy-to-use interface and bog standard bug free gameplay, which is why its so popular even to this day, but i'm not a big gamer when it comes to FPS mp games and CS only lasted 8 months with me before i moved to an MMORPG which lasted me 2 years none stop. I expect even more of WoW, just as soon as they put in a rewarding PvP system and make PvP worthwhile.

WoW is THE best supported MMO i've ever played...its got what bugs? tiny little bugs that hardly effect anyone except for whiners who expect a constantly changing world to be 100% perfect!. It just WONT ever happen dude. I've played MMO's that are years old 5x worse condition than WoW is.

Oh and for the books...the game will never be finished so looks like you won't ever be playing after 1 month if thats the way you wanna' look at it. Thats the way MMORPG's work..they need to get people excited for things otherwise where's the motivation to stay?

or, you can think of the price per week as a slightly expensive pint

a pint filled with.... drugs and grapes and succubus

Listen, I'm not saying it's not worth it for everyone, some people will find something lasting in this game, but to say it's worth everyone paying the monthly free to play, and everyone will find it money well spent compared to a Single Player game is wrong in my opinion. Some people won't find it worth it, and those may find something like an FPS with a multiplayer component that'll last them a few months money better spent.

The difference between an MMORPG and a Single Player game is that you keep paying for an MMORPG, now whether they do enough to the game to justify that monthly fee is up to the individual who's paying it.

I'm completely new to mmorpg's and I have to say: gotta love this game, totally addicting. If Blizzard follows through with new content, I'll be paying my subscription fee.
