WoW server question

just wondering, how can i find out which server in WoW is best for my location. I want a server thatll hardly give me any lag. thx.

EDIT: also, is there a way i can put my own character name above my head, i like it like that. thx.

Any of the other servers should be pretty good. I would recommend you find a low pop server just because it will have less lag when you first join and as you reach 60, the server population will increase to normal levels.

Yea I joined a low population server with that in mind, and now there are no low population servers left-

i think it considers how many people are logged on when it tells you the population - not how many people have characters on that server

They really have a ton of servers- its increadible that they are all nearly full

I'm on Stormrage (eastern server). I like being on a heavy server. Good economy and competition on goods.

Only time I lag is on the AH if everyone gets done with their Instances/Raids and is using it or if the place I'm at is getting Raided.

I think this server is one of the best maintained servers out there especially for it's size. Only had 1 emergency maintenance that I know of and only a few server restarts.

Essentially their is lag on every single server regardless of what your latency says. Try running away from a monster and you'll notice time and time again that they'll still be able to hit you although your miles away. I doubt any server in the world can handle the amount of players WoW servers get without lag.

A high ping doesn't really matter when fighting monsters, but it does when you're doing PvP, especially if you have to face the enemy constantly (like a Warrior or Paladin).

Seriously you won't prefer it like that, all it will do is get in the way when you're tring to attack things. Plus I don't think there's a way to turn it on anyway... maybe if you try a custom UI?

unfortunately, im on one of those forsaken servers, gorgonash, and hell, it lags all day

I couldn't imagine being on a really high population server. I'm on Magtheridon, and it's medium.

It took me long enough to mine all my mithril/truesilver for the armoursmith quests. All I would have needed was a little competition to pro-long the process.

I'm on Icecrown, my ping is usually in the 100s. I don't see why these servers have been "blacklisted". I'm going to start a character on Feathermoon soon.

I play on Silver Hand and haven't had a single problem with lag.
