So i just started homeworld 2, and cranked the settings to 1600x1200 and started to play. But the entire game was offset, i could only see the top left of what was being displayed, so i went back to options to change it lower, and guess what? The APPLY button is like half an inch off my screen. So i can't lower my resolution, is there another way i can do this?? Is there a config folder or something i can change so i don't have to reinstall everything?

Most games have some sort of config file that has all of your chosen graphical settings that you can alter. Depending on what game, it'll be in different places.

haha, i just installed homeworld 2 today too... except for some reason, the game sorta kinda lags with shadows enabled AND i go near the mother ship or any other big ship. weird... the shadows are kinda screwed up too. I'm wondering why it's lagging with a power system as mine. Also, it tried to install directx 9.0b when i have a higher version saying that my dx version is not the right one. O_o kinda screwd up installation

yea some games just dont like widescreen resolutions so they zoom instead.

Well, i tried to get as much help as i could, but nobody had an answer. The best solution seemed to be putting /800 in the target line of the icon which SUPPOSEDLY forces the game to run 800x600..which turned out to be a lie. I just bit the bullet and reinstalled it.

That's so silly.

might've been -height 800 -width 600 or something in the command line

The lag problems might be caused by the presence of a dual-core CPU. I know a lot of old games can't properly handle having their processes sent through two different cores. It happens all the time to me in SimCity 4 and Max Payne 2. If you're running dualcore, once you open the game, hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, find the game's process, right-click it, click Set Affinity, and then leave only one "core" checked off. It should run more smoothly afterwards.
