Not sure what else can be said. It's good, as per usual. I felt a tingle run up my spine, which is more than I could say I experienced from Illidan's "YUO ARE NOT PREPAERD!!!!!1!". I now have the motivation to move my alts past their 40-50 levels to 70.

Not that it will convert the h8ers. ;)

I liked warcraft. wow however sucks ass. Why not make warcraft 4? Huh? WHY?!

Because the people want Starcraft 2 instead.

The cinematic really captures the tragedy of Arthas's fall. I really appreciated the nuance of this trailer than the RAWR ACTION of the previous trailers, or the recent Warhammer one.

I cant tell if that is the biggest dragon ever to have lived (i forget his name) that he raised , at one point it looks huge but when its flying over the other undead it looks the size of a normal frost wyrm.

The dragon is Sandrigosa, the Ice Queen!!11oneone. She's basically Arthas' personal pet now.

Rest in peace my 70 Mage and Priest.

In the hands of some Chinese farmer now :(

EDIT: Trailer was acceptable, must say my favourite bit of all trailers is still Illidan taking flight with that music.

Warcraft has a great story, I just wish WoW wasn't such crap so I could play and learn it. Though, I hear WoW is just canon.

*EDIT* that's a bad ASS fkn trailer!!!!

This has been out for a while now for the record

Yeah, but I never saw a topic for it. WTF people. :|

I gotta say that if this trailer manages to successfully set the tone for the expansion's narrative, Blizzard will have redeemed itself somewhat in the lore department. The Death Knight hero class idea was something I was initially adamant against, but it seems they're trying to deeply intertwine Arthas' presence into their quests and the rest of the content. I feel they have to make a competent narrative for that to work successfully, as opposed to having vast gaps of nothing in between large yet anticlimactic raid fights. I just hope we get some insight into the Lich King's mind. Who knows, maybe even a glimpse of Ner'zhul if that's even possible at this point.

Still, it seems like there might be a few gaffes interspersed along the way, like...

Muradin only has amnesia lawl after being impailed by ice

WoW is feeling dated. This expansion pack won't spark my interest again. Thank god I've stopped playing it.

Trailer's alright. Not enough action, but the graphics are definitely up to Blizzard's par.

Almost tempted to get back into WoW with this, maybe sorta, that is if Warhammer doesn't manage to hold my interest. Been getting that old nagging feeling lately (not addictive my ass). If only they'd tone down the arenas and raids a bit... but I guess those are what it's known for now. It'd be less annoying if everything else wasn't a hopelessly boring grind, but whatever.

They should have shown the new dance emotes in full Blizz CGI glory.

**** yeah.

And haircuts!

If that's not gonna pull you back in, then I don't think anything will.

Warcraft's lore gone to shit with WoW. And now Arthas is another phat lewt dispenser... GG Bliz.

Agreed.

Knowing that you and a group of your mates at Level 70 are going to take down a demi-god in the Warcraft lore a few hours after release kind of kills the atmosphere in the trailer. Plus, how Arthus looks like the lead character off "Overlord" is a bit weird atmosphere-wise (even though they did it earlier) ...

Uhh.. wrong, wrong and wrong?

First, the dungeon of Icecrown Glacier isn't going to be released until MONTHS after the release of WotLK.

Second, you're going to be level 80 when you do it, dressed in epics from the preceding raid dungeons.

Third, it's gonna be long and hard work to actually do it, you're not "going to go in with a few mates and kill him in a few hours". It will require that you finish all preceding dungeons, in order to be geared up sufficiently. Months of preparation. Then the fight itself will be gruelingly hard.

Fourth, I can almost guarantee you that you will be assisted by the Order of the Silver Hand and the Ashbringer in bringing him down. Either that, or you'll be facing him in a weakened state.

So basically, shitty excuses for killing an important character. What next, you're gonna face Thrall, accompanied by a half-arsed explanation that he went mad and you have to axe him?

What's the alternative?

Slaying "Enraged Evil Boar" with your 25 man epic clad raid because the lore whores won't let you touch their important characters? What's the point of an MMO in the Warcraft universe if you're not allowed to engage the well known characters in it? Might as well have called it "World of Generic Fantasy" then.

Besides, I don't see the lame excuse in Tirion Fordring helping you slay Arthas. He's a rich character with lots of backstory and a massive build-up (started at level 55 or so in vanilla WoW).

I think the point is that they don't stay dead, so any great twists or plot that could be derived from killing them is moot. Next time you enter their lair, they'll still be sitting there, brooding all evil like, waiting to be pharmed for epix.

It's just the nature of MMOs - Noone Ever Really Dies.

For real.

Can't speak for others, but I've said it before and I'll say it again.

I don't have a problem with killing major lore characters. It's just that up to this point it's been certifiably half-assed in its execution. Pretty much every one you face has devolved from their former state into crazy, single-minded creeps who seem so just because their "BOSS" title somehow demands it. An absence of concrete exposition or lead-up just renders the whole experience hollow. "Engaging" these characters only seems to translate into whacking them with your weapon.

When Illidan bit the dust, I wasn't angry because he died seemingly for good. I was ticked off because none of his presence in Outland or Black Temple drew from any significant facet of his previous history, except for his freakin' ex-jailer, who was quite frankly an unscrupulous, obsessive bitch that I never wanted to help in the first place.

I'd like to, at some point, be able to right-click and talk to these people before embedding my sword in their face. Arthas in WotLK seems a step in the right direction IMO. The Lore Whores probably wouldn't complain as much as they do if Blizzard put more creative effort into justifying most of the encounters they create, or at least implementing them in a way that's emotionally satisfying. Not just "DUDE LOST HIS MIND, KILL HIM AND BRING ME TRINKETS".

Ah, I love Blizzard cinematics. That sent chills up my spine.

Well, if Warcraft 4 ever comes out then the final confrontation is going to be exciting isn't it ?

A massive battle between good and evil with (predicting here) excellent graphics on a dynamic battlefield, cutscenes galore with lightning flashing in the backdrop, and just as the hero slays Arthus in his moment of glory you suddenly have a flashback to when you and a bunch of cartoon-like characters "pwnzored" Arthus about 5 years ago and stole his "epix loot", afterwards dancing over his corpse with the /dance command.

A good way to end the story, hmm ?

I hope the storyline will be continued in Warcraft 4, in stead of WoW.

Yeah. Treat WoW as non-canon, and build on W3:FT.

Wow, this trailer actually got me interested. Not in WoW of course, but in the normal warcraft games. Hmm.

I always assumed this is to be expected? Somehow I can't imagine War4 based on what transpired in WoW...

I hope to God that anything happening in WoW isn't considered canon. :(

But, we won't be seeing a WC4 for quite a while so nothing to worry about right now.

Unfortunately, I'm sure they'll find a way to treat WoW as canon somehow. Just put "X was defeated by a group of heroes" or "the armies of...".

Which I would expect them to do. Sadly. But thats how it goes, they might tie in WOW story to warcraft 4 in some way other than going X was defeated by a group of heroes" or "the armies of...".

Sadly it looks like war4 will never happen. Why bother when you can simply make billions with wow 2 instead of millions with just war4?

They're still making Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.

I'm sure a Warcraft 4 will come. Just not any time soon.
