Hi Guys,

I'm currently writing a book on HL2 mods, tricks, tips, and such. I'm looking for authors to give me 1,500-2,000 words on any or all of these topics (each article would include step-by-step instructions):

Adding a Realistic Sun to a Map
Using the Face Poser
Creating a Psybox
Creating an interactive HUD
Linking entities to make complex props
Using Ent_fire and other controlling Commands
Applying Constraints and Phys_Entities
Incorporating/creating sounds in mods
Making movies with HL2
adding rotating models to the HL2 menu
Creating and controlling AI NPCs

If you feel you would like to write one or more (three is the limit... we are on a tight timeline), please email me at [email protected]. I'll supply additional guidance and the pay scale. Yep, it's a paying gig. You won't get rich, but you will be paid, and you will get your name in the book.;)

Best,

Mark

so like do you have permission from valve to produce this book?

Someone of Mark's background can get Valve to commit their source code for Half-Life 9. And also you don't need prior permission to write game design books, it is public domain and is actually encouraged. Permission comes in the form of IMAGES taken from EDITORS or INGAME footage.

My question, what is a psybox? I'm getting SKYBOX from that if that is what you were meaning to say.

oh right i thought mentioning things like hammer and half life 2 would require permission as they are trademarked names. i thought he meant physbox but i guess skybox is alot more likely.

Physbox I think...

Marjk, you can probably just email blink over at interlopers.net and arrange some sort of deal with regards to the tutorials. They are very well written and cover everything that you've mentioned.

but to make a physbox u just get a brush press ctrl t and select func_physbox nothing to it really wouldnt take up 8 pages im sure he must have meant skybox.

Looking foreward to this book :D

also, you probably dont need a whole section for adding realistic sunlight...
