Wrong Resolution...

I wanted Half-Life 2 to run smoother so i put the resolution down to 720 something something... I should'nt have done that :dozey: ...
So i need to put it back up again to 800x or 1200x but i cant see anything lol

What do i do!? I cant find a .ini fine to edit so that I can change it like that!? Please someone please help me!!!

my fault its not there, its set in the registry one sec I'll write small tutorial.

ok do this, right click half life 2 in steam, click properties, then click launch options or whatever, copy and paste this, -h 800 -w 600

What if i de-steamed it to enhance the effects?? (yes i own the original...) I hate the steam loading.. takes ages.. What do i do then??

right click the half life 2 shortcut and add it to the end of the target line, like in the picture below.

I use a launcher so i dont have to use the cd, what do i do then!? I tried to edit it but it didnt do nuttin' =) hehe

If you are using the launcher then there is nothing you can do. You need to be using steam.

put this in your cfg folder, rename it to autoexec.cfg, remember to delete it after you set the resolution to what you want otherwise it will keep going back to this res.

That's not going to work...I don't think HL2 uses the 'autoexec' file anymore...

heres my solution, run the game as normal and dont press anything, wait until you are certain the main screen has loaded and do the following:

1) Press the down arrow key 4 times followed by enter (takes you to options)
2)press tab 4 times followed by the right arrow key 4 times followed by enter (takes you to video options)
3)hit tab once (gets you to the select resolution box)
4)hit down arrow key once (takes the res from what you have (720 sumthing?) to 800 x 600)
5) hit tab 7 times followed by enter (the "apply" button should have been selected after pressing tab 7 times)

Hope this helps. Make sure the main menu is 100% loaded and ready before begining step 1, and do it slowly. You may want someone to confirm this is the right combination of key presses too.

smigit that was really clever and simple but it didnt work... :'(

ALhtough ive checked the comb and its correct...I tried it many times and still didnt work..Im sure ive been doing this correct..

all i can suggest then is making a backup of your save games and reinstalling half-life2, hopefully it'll default to the original settings after the install.

dear lord.....

i dont use a setup to install it. i use a launcher icon without the dvd..I copy all the files into my hard drive..The problem is i already did that and nth happened... ;( i cant believe whats happening...its a curse or sth ???This game hates me..is there aaaaanything i can do ?? Im even thinking of formating my drive..Somehow some files stay in my drive..But i cant find them..I used reg cleaners n stuff but nth happened again...HOW CAN THAT BEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ..PLease help someone...Thanks for answering smigit again
