WTF? Headcrab + crowbar = 4 skulls??

Okay so I'm playing half life 2 now on hard. I am right at the beginning of the second jail map and there's this headcrab, he jumps to attack me, I swing my crowbar, he dies but explodes into 4 skulls. WTF? has this happened to anyone else?

But once I hit a Zombie, he died, but once he hit the ground his mask fell off, and it was actually the Master Chief!

Do bodies usually gib for you when you hit them with a crowbar?

I have never seen any bodies gib in HL2.

Maybe you turned up the gore settings without realising it?

Actually the Combine Gunships do "gib", if you count "gibbing" as blowing up into pieces.

And Antlions only gib when hit by explosives, or the front bumper of your car.

Gibbing doesn't feature because it's not as realistic (and fun!) as ragdolling.

I suspect there is a console setting to enable gibbing though. Or you could MOD it in.

Zombies. You can chop them in half, or turn them into a pile of dust if you crush them with something.
