Let's say I choose the number 24

2 + 4 = 6

24 - 6 = 18

If I choose 50...

5 + 0 = 5

50 - 5 = 45

See a pattern? The answer is always a multiple of 9 and as you can see for every multiple of 9 there is the same symbol.
