X3: Albion Prelude

Beat me to it, I'm so excited that we get more X goodness so soon!!!

EDIT: Found some more information in their newsletter: http://www.egosoft.com/x/xnews/201112_1_44News.html

Sounds like there is a more dynamic war system going on, and you can influence how the war progress either by adding your own muscle, or by creating a trade empire to supply the fleets.

I'm also kind of happy that its not compatible with previous TC savegames. Forcing a fresh start will make exploring all the new features necessary, and probably more fun.

Hmm... Think I'll just wait for Rebirth, especially if this is priced as a full game. Just looks like it's going to be an improved Terran Conflict, as where Rebirth sounds like it's shaping up to be a whole new game.

It's not full priced, its $10. They also hinted at it being on sale during the holiday sale, and its free to those who have bought or will buy the Superbox.

God I wish I had the time to put into this game :(

Same, I own X2:TT, X3:R and X3:TC retail as well as the Superbox on Steam but the last time I played any of the X titles properly for a longer period was actually back when X3:Reunion came out.

They're just so time-consuming.

X games are some of my absolute favorites. I'm just afraid of what will happen to my life if I buy this. Decisions, decisions. First time in years I actually have a computer that could do this game justice. Hmmmm.

Same. These games seem awesome, but I wouldn't be able to just sit down and play for an hour - which is my current gaming timeframe.

Yeah, unfortunately because of the scale of the game it takes quite a while to do anything, especially within the timeframe of an hour...

What impresses me is that they announced it merely a week before its getting released. Makes me hope that some other developers are doing this too *cough*valve*cough*

I play X games to relax. They are so huge and open ended that I can just slip into my ship and do some space flying in the spare time.

It's hard to initially learn the game too when you don't have the time to commit. I guess with something this big it takes quite a while to figure everything out! D:

As i tell everyone who is starting out with this game, check out the official forums! Many people there are friendly and more than happy to help you out. They even have a massive compilation of tutorials in a pdf called the X handbook that will seriously teach you how to do anything in the game.

Also, I agree that X3 is a good game to relax with. Dogfighting may take concentration, but it's great to have on while doing something else like watching a hockey game.

Edit: And of course, if you want help with a certain aspect, you can ask me and i can try and answer

What Wanted Bob said about the forums cannot be stressed enough, if you use the good beginners guides on the Egosoft forums, you'll be able to at the very least have a decently sized company of independent traders running within a few hours making you quite a lot of dough if you dock in a safe area and leave the game running.

Seriously improved? I wouldn't say that with regards to the UI.

Battles are much more interesting now. Clashes between 3-4 capital on both sides with smaller fighters everywhere. It's a sight to behold, especially being in a tiny fighter trying to pick off other small ships without getting plastered by the larger ones.

DLC still hasn't unlocked for me, despite me owning the Superbox and having it registered on the forums.

Still waiting for a reply from the support team on when I can expect to get the DLC.

It's hard to say yet. If you own the superbox you might as well get it, but I haven't really been able to see much of the new content aside from a few war missions so far.

I'm unsure about getting Albion Prelude at this time. It's very cheap but I have yet to play Terran Conflict, so I'm not in a hurry and in the future it should get cheaper.

Egosoft fixed it and I now have X3: Albion Prelude for free, neat.

For anyone else with the Superbox who can't seem to find it, Albion isn't a DLC but a stand-alone title listed independently in your Steam Library.

Now to just find the time and energy to... Y'know, play it.

So tempted to get this, that Prometheus trailer gave me a hardon for space exploration once again. Might just buy the latest Evochron game when it goes on sale at Gamersgate.com though..

So, I've been pondering trying to start a proper game in X3AP or TC.

Does anyone know if using mods that rebalance the entire game and such disables the Steam Achievements?
