uhm, I had a problem here with my motherboard after I installed my new x800 pro (a few months ago) and the computer wouldnt boot up and the graphics board would start doing weird fan noises, the first time this happened I removed one RAM stick and the computer turned on normally, but when I put the removed stick back to the slot, the problem happened again, only today I figured out that it is something related to the AGP speed... it was 8x, when I switched to 4x, everything came back to normal with the 2 sticks in, but my question is, is there any difference from 8x to 4x on AGP speed?? Because I realized i'm gonna have to stick with the 4x speed for now...

if running on 4x it will run much slower. Im sure there is a solution for this problem, and im sure you can run in 8x. The brand on your memory sticks doesnt matter. You might have connected the powercables on your x800 wrong, i remember that one of the cables must be connected directly to your hardrive..
And try changing the memory for the gfx car to 256, you maybe forgot that

wait, you mean changing the aperture size to 256? mine is currently at 128, as it always been since i bought it, as for the power cable, it comes out of the power supply, connects to the HD, then at the other end, half of the wires go to the floppy drive and where these 2 halfs meet theres the graphics card cable, which is only connected to itself.I dont think there is some way to connect a separate power cable to the HD and one separate for the graphics card here...

I have the same setup basically you definatly want to change it to 256 and change the AGP to 8 in the bios ok.

ok the problem just happened again, I took out one ram stick and turned the pc on, on the catalyst control center I switched AGP speed back to 8x and turned OFF PCI read and write, everything is normal again... i already treied switching aperture size to 256 a few weeks ago but nothing helped... what is that PCI read and write option at the catalyst center anyway?? isnt it supposed to be off? cuz my card is AGP.
