x800 PCi-express?

was wondering if someone can help me...again...lol ok can someone tell me if the x800 is pci-express ready? I'm hearing people say it is and some people say it's not. ASUS HELP!

X880 is the PCI-Express version of the X800 GPU, I think there are pro and XT versions of that too.

ahhh nice thanks, I was about to say that I need to go on ahead and invest in the x800 then if it was AGP/PCI-express? switchable, weird thought but I don't keep up w/ computers anymore sadly

If you wish to invest in a X800 PCI-Express card now you will also have to invest in Intels lovely Prescott and Socket T, better known as LGA 775, platform.
PCI-Express is not backwards compatible at all.

I would suggest settling down with an AGP verion for a number of reasons.
- Performance is the same
- I doubt you would be satisfied after investing in Intel's new platform. Socket 775 is listed as the GHz and then the chipset 925 or 915
- PCI-Express is brand new and the chipsets that support it are also new which means nothing is mature and developed.
- AGP will give you great performance in your PC or any current platform with AGP support.

If you are still wanting PCI Express then I highly suggest you wait for the first chipsets to pass and hop on board after the 2nd wave comes by with any issues fixed and possible improvements.

No one that I know of is selling the PCI-Express Graphic Cards yet, except last years Nvidia 5700 model with the PCI-Express interface on newegg.

Just one more thing...I've noticed with my 9800 SE that I get "tears" or "lines" that go across my screen when I watch a movie or play a game, mind you that these are not artifacts. It's something that has to do with the shitty video card. I read that 9800 SE's are 9800 chips that are defective or only work half-ass. I was just hopeing that the 9800 Pro will solve this. You guys think it will?

I've tried everything and other people with 9800 se's have had the same problems so I think the problem lies within the 9800 se's chipset as I mentioned above. Trust me I've had this comp for nearly a year (got it about 2 weeks before HL2 was supposed to come out....damn you Valve) and it's done it ever since. I've had a year to work with it and nothing improves, so I'm just gonna get a 9800 Pro and hope for the best.
