Woah, am i happy.

My new x800 pro vivo arrived this morning, but thats not the main reason. Oh no. As for the same money as the vivo i have a fully fledged x800 xt pe :D.

I did a quick search on the forums and found notihng on the topic. If its already been mentioned i will happily delete the thread.

But for those interested, READ ON!!

These are a few links and threads on other forums which helped me hugely.

Link 1 : The actual process

Link 2: Alternative process, and feedback

It involves flashing your bios with a gigabyte xt's this unlocks the last 4 pipes. You can then flash back to your pros with the last 4 pipes intact!!
Even with the old pro bios and 4 pipes there is a real noticable difference!

Follow the guides and i'm sure you will be happy as me!

Problems so far appear to be: The card MUST be a ViVo, brand does not matter. Mine ssems to be pretty hot when running. But what did you expect. The card also appears to lose some of its overclockabilitybut not much (better to hav the extra 4 pipes and lose some oc.).

Other than that forums are reporting 100% success rates on Vivo x800 pros. It is an incredibly easy procedure, i had never flashed a bios before but i got it right pretty quickly.

Now i'm off to have a play with my card.
Wow it feels like Christmas!!
:D

unfortunately u only have 4 pipes more, you dont have the....what is it...300? 400 mhz more clock speed. congrats anyway though.

the bios flashes the core and the mem to xt speeds so you have a fully fledged xt pe, ie 520/560 16 pipes.

and cheers

congrats then. id never have the balls to tamper with my video card so you got a pair on you. :p ur card is going to be running incredibly hot though opposed to a regular xt pe

That's pretty sweet, but I probably wouldn't mess about with an expensive graphics card, if it went tits-up you wouldn't be able to get any money back.

If you watercool it I bet you'd be able to push them clocks a bit higher still, after all it's the same GPU as the XT. The memory isn't the same though, so you'd probably have to leave them as they are.

pobs i see ur water cooling an fx-53....dont waste your money. i have the fx53 and it runs incredibly cool on stock alone. 45c idle, 53c after playing painkiller, ut2k4, cz, cod, and many other games for hours on end. its up to u just tryin to save u a few bucks.

i tihnk vivo mem is the same as the xt (1.6) might be wrong, underneath my heatsink decal it even says x800xt!, so whether mine is a failed xt or what, i do not know.
And yeah it is getting pretty toasty, might take the case cover off and get a big desk fan blowing on it

Not got the FX-53 yet, I'm waiting for nVidia to release nForce4 before I upgrade, so it could be later to an FX-55 :)

As for the watercooling, I want a silent cooling solution for a fanless machine - so I'm looking at the zalaman tower watercooler to cool the CPU and graphics card.
