I want to upgrade my pc my cpu is fine i think but do i get a new card ? i was thinking of getting the new 7800 card it has 24 pipelines i think. anywho what should i do. my specs are in my sig and a few pics if you care. not trying to brag just trying to keep up with these new games ( Alan wake , fear,prey,bf2,UT2007,etc...)

I was thinking
1.1 gig more ram
2. new 24 pipes 7800 card(currently have 12 :x )

OR...

Get new motherboard SLI and put another x800pro in there ??????

For now I'd save your money. You can run everything pretty smooth I would assume.

I would do a system upgrade if you did and switch to an AMD Athlon64 CPU. You're loosing a number of frames of whats possible by having a P4. You could go with a 7800 although that would be quite a bit of money but it's up to you.
1GB of memory is fine.

IMHO the 7800's aren't worth your money. Save your money for now, and build a new pc in a few months/a year.

ok ok I NEED a card with at least 16 piplines though, I have the money saved up so why not right.

Why not?

Because you've already got a kickass card.

Anyway, i'd reccomend a 6800gt, or, if you have the money, an x850xt.

I'd say go with the 7800GTX but you have an AGP slot so that won't work. There really isn't an AGP card that will be a big boost over your X800Pro. A X850XT or an OCed 6800GT would be a few frames higher over your Pro. But thats another $300-400 spend on a card.

I guess another thing is now that you are buying another AGP card, what happens when you want to upgrade your system (CPU/Motherboard etc) and go PCI-Express? Lot of money for small speed bumps. Personally, I'd just upgrade the CPU and board too and go PCI-E now. Spend it and get it out of the way. Then when you upgrade the GFX card down the road your system will be set with that PCI-E slot.

GFX card review covers 7800GTX, X850XT, 6800Ultra/GT and 6600GT SLI.

Thanks for the help i never looked at it that way before. Ill go pci E for my new pc and AMD ill do it next year

mad bonus points for having a senna poster btw.

whats the best amd card you can buy currently? and what processor speeds do they run at/compare to p4's?

The best AMD procsessor IMHO would be the dual core FX57s, but there close to a thousand bucks. Damn i wish i could afford one :p

If only there was such a thing as dual core FX57...and that would be a bargin if it was $1000.
If you are talking about the X2 4800+, I know what ya mean. ;)

Hmmmmm, im never staying up that late again......i made so many mistakes with my responses last night.

Stick with your x800 pro and save money for Crossfire. I have an x800 pro and that's what I am doing. No real demanding games out at the moment.
