X800XT Alert! Cheap in stock at newegg!

Yup, even if it's not a PE that price rocks, especially considering most of the XT PE's are so hard to find right now they're selling for like over $600.

hey, has ANYONE gotten their x800 xt's from cdw yet? it seemed like ALOT of people were waiting for those (and from other online stores).

What's the difference between XT's and PE's? I got a X800XT VIVO that runs at a stock speed of 520Mhz core clock and memory at 1.2Ghz. Howcome a lot of XT's come in at 500Mhz? and slower RAM?

Sapphire announced an XT version that is clocked at 500MHz rather than 525MHz which is the XT PE priced at 499$ Retail. Is the memory a different speed as well?

It's an easy job to OC to XT PE speeds. ;)

:dozey: so now it's like this

Geforce 6800 vs X800 Pro
Geforce 6800 GT vs X800 XT
6800 Ultra vs X800 XT PE

???

the X800 XT sounds like a good buy, especially if you can easily OC to PE's. The X800 XT still has 16 pipelines right?

No, this XT version is just a slightly lower priced XT PE version. It does not replace the Pro's price point.

Positioning Unclear

It is unclear why ATI and its add-in-board partners decided to add a new high-cost RADEON X800 XT SKU into the lineup: the company’s RADEON X800 XT Platinum Edition competes well against the GeForce 6800 Ultra, but the firm’s RADEON X800 PRO is typically slower compared to NVIDIA’s GeForce 6800 GT. Earlier this year rumours emerged about lower-cost RADEON X800 XT flavour presumably named X800 GT and aimed specifically to offset the 6800 GT part from NVIDIA.

ATI’s RADEON X800 XT Platinum Edition and RADEON X800 PRO are currently priced officially at $499 and $399 price points, just like NVIDIA’s GeForce 6800 Ultra and GeForce 6800 GT respectively.

Actually the VPU core speed on a PE card is 520MHz not 525! The memory on the PE is also 1120MHz DDR

oh noes.... asus made a mistake!!!

Yupp, that's right. My C3D runs at 520/1120. Haven't managed to OC it on the stock cooler though. At least not more than the overdrive mode. Maybe I need a new cooler to overclock some..

Whoooo you quoted Asus, WHOOO.

Flash it? It has everything what the PE has, all you need to do is up the clocks. Yes, I hope there's a flash for it  .

Just to clarify:

X800XT: 500mhz core, 1000mhz memory

X800XT PE: 520mhz core, 1120mhz memory

I'm sure you could flash the XT to an XT PE easily. Although you don't need to, the PE is just a higher clocked XT. You could just overclock the XT to PE speeds and you don't need to flash.

Im wondering what nvidias next move is...isn't there a Dual GPU coming out soon?

They're planning to be connecting two cards to get (Current estimate) a 75% performance increase last I heard, for some GT cards or something. This was, from what I read, done with the Voodoo series a *long* time ago :)

SLI mode died last time for a reason. It'll die again, who the hell would buy 2 GT's, who could afford it? It makes no sense to redo SLI mode unless they're gonna start selling cards for half price from now on.

It only died last time because of the introduction of the AGP slot. The architechture of the AGP slot prevents more than one slot bieng implemented into the motherboard chipset. Before then SLI was very popular indeed.

There already was one... the Volari V8 Duo. It blew. Hardcore.

The same people who can buy p4EEs and FX53/55s. There are plaenty of people who will buy it.
