X850 XT => less frames

Hi,

i got big props with my system and Counterstrike Source.
If i play with more than 4 Players on a server , my frames go down to often 20 fps. That cant be true.

My system:

P4 2,8 Ghz
1 GB RAM
X 850 XT


i tried some different drivers
have alle new drivers for chipset etc.
i reinstalled css and win xp.
i got great benchmarks with 3dmark.
cpu tests give me good results.

so i dont know what to do else.
perhaps here is someone with a solution.

Have you noticed this same behavior on more than that one server? Typically you need to try several servers and determine if the loss is consistent across them. I would expect you noticed this on the one server you were playing on. If your frames were dropping as players increased then you should play at another server since that one is more than likely located at someones DSL home. What about your ping, loss etc. Type in the console cl_showfps 3 to see your loss, in and out, etc.

Gone into your ATI control panel and set your antialias and antistropic options correctly. Set them as "application controlled" or disabled.

I have a similar setup but I am using an x800xtpe at 1024x768x32bpp and several config tweaks I stay right around 100fps.

The problem exists on every server i play. i have no loss and choke. just low framerates. my ping is always between 5 and 10. thats ok.
in atis control center everything is as is should be.
i wonder cause i got 105 fps in stress test. i think thats a good result.

If you got 105 on the stress test then one can only assume its related to network connection or a setting specific to source, if the following is true.

All your other games during multiplayer online the fps is ok?

Are you overdriving your ATI card using the catalyst control center?

I am pretty sure there is some option to add to your config file specific to ATI cards for Source. I will look at my config tonight and tell you what I find. Do you have xfire? 3L3Mn8Tr is mine.
