Xbox 360 Specs

Even exceeds what I expected! :D
I'm so happy they actually decided to go with 512 MB RAM!
Although the CPUs are .3 Ghz slower than expected, oh well, still awesome. :)
The Xbox live sounds awesome too.

I wish I would be rich, so I can get all 3 consoles, cause we all know they are going to own. :)

Wow. Just Wow.

But the graphics chip only uses 10 megs? Seems low

most computer stuff has to be more because it has to run a different type of OS

I imagine it will be sharing ram with the system itself.

The whole thing is looking really ****ing tight.

Im impressed. Im also anxious to see what this thing will be able to pull off.

Anyone know what the price of the Xbox 360 will be?

Wow. Better than I thought as well. I wonder if those are really true. I guess we will find out at E3. But did it just say Xbox Live Silver will be free? If so, I might just have to get this thing.

niiiicccee specs, but too bad the silver "subscription" is absolutely useless. All I wan't is to be able to play my games online, not some stupid avatar shit....

Oh man.. No way.. WiFi.. I am so happy. I have been waiting for a built in WiFi system! Thank you for Microsoft. I am now able to pretty much play my XBox online anywhere without connecting any cables. Woo hoo!!

...Then god created the xbox 360 and it was good.

Due to your recent events, I am wondering about something.. Can you even afford the seXbox 360?

I heard it was going to cost 299.00, which was speculation.

Well, hell son...by the time you do I'll be in California and I'll probally have my own. :P

Not unless you can get me one in less then 10 months.

****. How in the name of jesus are they going to pack that all in for 400 bucks or so?

It looks like they'll be taking another loss on hardware as they did with the first Xbox... though, it would seem to be more than ~$125 this time around.

I thought the specs were all kick-ass until I noticed one detail:
Support for DVD-video, DVD-Rom, DVD-R/RW, CD-DA, CD-Rom, CD-R, CD-RW, WMA CD, MP3 cd, JPEG photo CD
No Blu-Ray? No HD-DVD? Just DVD-ROM? Sony is going to have a lot more storage space per disc if MS is sticking with plain old DVDs. I'm not exactly sure, at this point, what they could do with the storage advantage... but I'm sure they could come up with something. Who knows? Perhaps those formats in the list are just the other types of media it can read and it's actually going to use one of the new formats for its games.

Oh well, the details should be officially revealed at 9:30PM EST on MTV this Thursday... so it's not exactly a huge wait.

very powerfull, Still I want to see some vids of XBOX360 games.

The thing is a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD reader(s) is VERY expensive as of now, and would probably add atleast another 100 USD from what I've heard to the price, which is why Microsoft ain't including it seeing as they want to release the X-Box 360 with a good price "before" the others.
This is what -I'VE- heard atleast.

That 10MB of DRAM is uberfast stuff that is located either on or very close to the GPU - its only function is for dealing with full-screen antialiasing samples so that FSAA has little to no effect on the framerate. For textures, it will use the system memory (which is good, because there's so much of it, and it's so fast...)

:rolling: I was lost after the first sentence

3 USB 2.0 ports

I hoping this means we can use official microsoft hardware (mouse, keyboard, etc) from PC's for the Xbox

Why would the Xbox 360 use Blu-Ray? Blu-Ray is a Sony standard and is very expensive. I think that MS is smart to stick to standard DVD's because it's cheaper and more widely available.

It's not like 4.7gb isn't enough for a game, even a next-gen game. I guess it's a bit of a let down having no HD-DVD drive on a HD console, but hopefully (because it's an Xbox) HD-DVD drives will be sold as upgrades further down the line.

Yes, yes, this is all very well and good, but is it HUGE?

Actually, I just read recently (as in, since I posted last) in an article posted yesterday on IGN that the Blu-Ray technology is going to be the standard and they are both going to work together, with the HD-DVD guys now working on the software behind Blu-Ray as part of the compromise (Sony backed out of the earlier compromise and, apparantly, Toshiba & Co. threw in the towel). So, I guess there won't be any HD-DVD drives (unless they use Sony technology) for the Xbox 360...

Toshiba's decision to give way on the disk format was apparently made after examining cost issues related to the Sony technology. The merged format will make use of Sony's 0.1 millimeter Blu-ray disk technology with Toshiba's software in place for reading and writing from the disk and handling copyright protection. Toshiba's 0.6 millimeter HD-DVD disk technology will be dropped. The resulting technology will be offered as a new format. It's unclear at this point if the new format will adopt the Blu-ray or the HD-DVD name, or if something completely new will be used.

- unified shader architecture

Does that mean there is no distinction between pixel- and vertexshaders anymore? Like they wanted to do with the succesor of DX9?
