XBOX system link play, and headset communication?

I need some quick help guys, me and a friend are playing some games via system link on the xbox (splinter cell pandora tomorrow)

We want to be able to chat while we play so we were wondering if anyone knew if you could use the headset/mic combos to chat over a system link game?

If so then we are going to run to the store... We can't just yell at each other though, its late, we would get killed. Please help quick.

Um why? our usually within 5 feet of eachother with system link

no, no were not. We are in totally seperate rooms. And don't just say move the tvs, they are freakin' huge 50'' plus..
