R there any good sites that compare the 2 consoles with the negative and positive effects that each have?

im doing a speech for class

i can compare them right now

ps2:
dusty...never used

xbox:
i do not own one

questions can be directed to my inbox

I don't see how you can compare them. Try consoles that were release around the same time.

No doubt.
This is the internet.

I can tell you the xbox has a built in hard drive that makes memory cards nearly obsolete.
broadband modem, and more powerful graphics processing.
you need to buy a DVD kit to play DVD's. you need to pay 30-60 dollars a year to play online whatsoever, but its good quality and offers updates and downloads.
You can talk to anyone in the world through XBOX for "free" if you have XBoX live (like a free telephone) with party line

The PS2 eventually added a built in broadband/dial up modem when they re-styled and now offer seperately a hard drive.
It alows DVD playback right out of the box

the Ps2 has alot more games support.

Both systems are near the end of thier "hot" life span, but will continue to sell some systems for decades.

I recomend to wait a year or two and get the new PS3 or NEXTBOX system, or just get a PC

of course some people cant afford $300+ or whatever they will charge for the new systems

I think a better comparison would be the XBox and the GameCube. Both were released at the same time and technologically superior to the PS2.

If you're going to compare the PS2 to anything I would compare it to the DreamCast. Technology-wise, they're both on par with each other with a slight edge to the PS2.

I will always love the dreamcast
I will always hate the PS2 (except when I finally get GT4, the reason I bought the piece)

The dreamcast stoped being sold years ago unless used, so thats not really fair, don't you think?

How about a comparison for all the systems... goodnight @_@

I got tired of most Japanese games when I was 12, it just got so repetitous and the themes were so childish.

I don't know the basis of his comparison. I thought it was technology alone as I said in my post. If that's the case, the DreamCast is closer the PS2 than either the XBox or the GameCube which are both technologically superior.

I also enjoy my DreamCast more than the PS2. It may be gone, but it gets a hell of a lot of use from me.....Sonic Adventure anyone.

The DC was great (thought Sonic Adventures was a crock tho ;))

Many a fun evening was had playing Samba with m8's :)

I would say Xbox, almost every feature about the Xbox is better then the PS2,and their are much more good games for Xbox, for example,HALO 2,personally,i thought that was a huge PS2 killer ^_^.

Sonic Adventure was bad-ass. That and Shenmue would Shaq-Fu just about every game I can think of on the PS2 except for a few exceptions.

Sonic is the man...errr....goddammit.

Adventures will always be the one that killed the Sonic charm for me. Horses for courses (but the silly voices, cities and ppl :/)

Shenmue was sweet tho :)

Anyone play Fire Pro Wrestling? After No Mercy on the N64 it was the baddest wrestling game there was \o/

The PS2 and XBOX are basically the same system. Just the XBOX has more speed....not too much difference.

Well, lets see:
PS2-
Released earlier, so it has more games although it is not as powerful.
Xbox-
Released later, has a smaller library of games but is more powererful.

PS2-
Comes with free internet, although it doesn't have as many features. Also comes with a DVD player out of the box, although it has problems playing some DVD's (at least the older versions do).
Xbox-
You have to pay for net play, but it may be worth it because of the nice features. You have to pay for a DVD player but its pretty good.

PS2-
Has a controller better suited for fighting and racing games (in my opinion). Only has two controller ports out of the box.
Xbox-
Has a controller better suited for first-person shooters (once again, in my opinion). Has four controller ports out of the box.

PS2-
Old piece of hardware, not very powerfull, and most likely to have a future of wierd Japanesse games with craptastic graphics.
Xbox-
Newer hardware, has just enough power to run new games, will have games like Doom3, FarCry, and (maybe) Half-life 2.

PS2-
Doesnt have Halo
Xbox-
Has Halo

Get the Xbox. :E

For online play the XBox is easily superior to the PS2 (and the PC in many ways) It also has some very decent titles that the other consoles wouldn't be capable of (Jade Empire looks sweet)

The PS2 has a great variety of titles though; from beat-em-ups and shooters, to rpg, adventure, driving and party games. Many genres that the Xbox and GC have a weak support for flourish on the PS2.

Both machines are great. Base your decision on the games avalaible and whether online play is important to you.

(Personally, I'd choose the GC :))

lol. I think it's funny that the guy who originaly posted this thread never came back, but everyone just posts anyway, this is a good topic. lol

It's a topic thats going to end in a flame war if you ask me. Just a guess.
