In case you haven't heard the news, Yahoo filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Xfire on 1/28/05. Xfire does not infringe the Yahoo patent. Xfire has filed a countersuit stating that Yahoo's lawsuit is a baseless attempt to drive Xfire out of business or to force Xfire to sell or license its proprietary technology.

Xfire is a 'friends network' program that allows you to add people like a miniture msn/aim and see what games people are playing and talk to them. The reason alot of valve fans use it is cos friends is always down. But it can cause firewall problems and compatability issues with some things. It differs for every person. Personally i can't stand it....so im laughing. me--->

Theres loads of gamers who are idiots, like 8 year olds who play counter strike and shout and talk leet and all that stuff. They'd use it cos they don't know their arse from their elbow. Although im sure there are some clever people using it out there, but they probably have decent security and spyware scanners. i just find the concept of xfire boring, its ANOTHER program to log into every time i boot up, seems more of an accessory rather than something necessary.
