Hi,

I installed Steam/HL2 yesterday on my Administrator account (XP SP2). I'd like to make the game available to the kids under their user accounts. Is there a way to do this? It sure isn't obvious to me. The Steam tech support hasn't answered. Any out here have any ideas?

Thanks,

C

So basically I have to let the kids use my personal administrator account on XP? That seems like a bad idea.

The same Steam account. There's no problem with that as long as I'm concerned, and if there is a problem it's Microsofts fault and not Valves.

Just let them use your steam account not your Xp account. Make a shortcut to steams exe on their desktop enter you steam account username and password and make steam remember it.

Oh I don't have a problem with them using the Steam account - heck I'm never going to play. The problem is getting Steam to run from their XP user account. I placed shortcuts on their desktop and they didn't work. It appeared to me that either I need to install steam into the shared doc folder instead of the program folders, or I need to make the boys user account into admi-type accounts. I've seen other threads on this problem, but no one ever wrote back and said it had been solved.

While on their desktops, create a search to find your Steam shortcut. Make sure the path on that shortcut ends up somewhere on the Administrator. Copy it onto their desktops.

D'ya no wat I mean?
