ZDnet has the details:

The moment that Windows XP users have been waiting for. Today Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) goes RTM.

Here?s what you can expect from XP SP3:

* All previously released Windows XP updates, including security updates and hotfixes.
* Also contained are some out-of-band releases.
* A small number of new OS enhancements.

Some features of note include:

* Improvements to 'black hole' router detection.
* Network Access Protection, which is a network policy enforcement platform previously seen in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.
* Enhanced Control Panel Security Options which better explains the impact of the various settings.
* Product key-free installation now possible

No word on any sort of general performance increases, but at least it'll save you from having to restart multiple times to update after reformatting.

isnt it suppose to be released the 29th?

RTM means that all future retail copies of Windows XP will have SP3 included. Those who already have XP will have to wait a few days to download it.

sooooooo now that SP3 is out,
a 'friend' of mine was wondering if installing SP3 would screw up his pirated copy of XP . . .
can anyone confirm whether or not it will?
google search failed :(

its finally out for real now?
it was suppose to be released the 2nd but i never saw it.

I installed it but I ran into a boot loop error I had to fix. Now it's better. Can't tell the ****ing difference, though.

Been using it for about two weeks now. Installed with 0 issues. I've not noticed a performance increase or any cosmetic changes, as expected.

i have noticed any changes or seen any new features.

all that changed was my themes didnt work and i had to reinstall uxtheme.dll

sounds like it's more trouble than it's worth at this point

I want to know the same. Anyone?

When I installed it at my job one of the step said "checking key" so I would be carefull.

I just reinstalled XP yesterday after a semi-major system upgrade, and SP3 automatically appeared as an update. Doesn't seem to be much of an improvement in performance, but more importantly, it hasn't broken anything so far..everything is working fine.:D
