I started to make a crane like thing for a map im making. I cant figure out how to put textures on it, is it like Maya ( i have to open hammer and select lambert in xsi and put in the name of the textre)?????

After finishing making the crane (without textures), i couldnt figure out how to export (with ValveSource addon). I dont know which one to do it with and where to exxport it...

(Without the space)

Tutorial on texturing that someone pointed out in another thread, its very helpful.

the valveaddon is on the menu bar at the top, 2nd last thing, if installed correctly

ok thanks alot you guys were alot of help.... but now i got to texture it, but when i start to turn my .tga into a .vtf, the vtex.exe is saying its got a problem... what do I do now.

and also when i test exported it, the top and bottom of my test cube where texture with standard hammer texture, but the sides the textures where streched, how can i fix that.

Plus is there a way that i can import .mdl files so i can modify them instead of rebuilding it with a lil modification????

k u got the sourcesdk_content/pick a game/materialsrc/
now u make whtaever folder such as sourcesdk_content/pick a game/materialsrc/mytexture and stick all tgas in mytexture. THen when u compile them it will go in whatevergame\materials\mytexture folder. but u must make the folder beforhand or use the -mkfolder flag
