Ritz, Xfire is a friends list/messenger/game manager
you can chat with your friends, see what they are playing, where they are playing it, and join the server if you have the game they are playing installed (think steam on a much larger scale, and it actually works)
if they are in a teamspeak server, you can automatically join it too..

I must say I was skeptical, which is why I only picked it up 4 days ago, but I am thoroughly impressed thus far.
