ok i ordered a "1GB (512 x 2) DDR2 533" and its coming..

i got a "512MB (256 x 2) DDR2 400" installed

-= BOTH SPEEDS (400/533) ARE SUPPORTED BY MY MOTHERBOARD =-

SO MY QUESTION IS

should i just put 1GB DDR2 533 OR make it "1.5GB @ 400mhz"

whats gonna work better?

I guess because capacity difference > ram speed difference

Becuase it's more and therefore is less likely to bottleneck the system. Modern games tend to use more than 1gb.

Both options have the same value, money wise. If I were you I'd go with the faster RAM, the 1gb of 533. Speed is much more important than amount, and 1gb is plenty.

Noone seems to have given a valid explaination as to why the 1.5 is a better choice.

I vote for the 1.5 gb because I have it and it runs everything lightning fast, dont have experience with the 533 mhz type so I cant give an opinion on that.

OK I GOT IT INSTALLED SEEMS LIKE THERe'S NO PERFORMANCE UPGRADE...

i dont understand in BIOS

slot1 256mb x16
slot2 512mb x8
slot3 256mb x16
slot4 512mb x8

wtf is this?

tested 1gb @ ddr2 533mhz

its faster..
but what is x8 x16.. it sez organization.. can someone clear that up?

Memory itself does not boost performance, only lack of it can hinder performance. So you would only be able to tell a difference when you exceed 1gb used, since that is what you had before.

Your ram goes slower with 4 sticks. 2-3 is plenty. Keep the 1 GB.

yeah mine is 3x 512 and that is better than what you have there.
