I have both a legedimit copy of halflife 2 and episode 1 aswell as a pirated copy. Both are having runtime errors... I have reinstalled, reformatted, updated drivers, used older drivers, running the latest version of dx, but nothing will stop HL2 (in the later chapters) and Episode 1 from grabbing a C++ runtime error; "Runtime Error! E:\Half-Life2 Episode One\hl2.exe This application has requested the runtime terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." It seems no matter what I do the game will ge the runtime error; does anyone know of any fixes or if valve plans on releasing a fix for this oh so very popular and extremely frusterating problem? Thanks in advance!

The only time I had a runtime error was in Aftermath when it loads to the level after the hostpital. I got around it though by loading to the next level via console command.

I suggest you update your runtime libraries, that upgraded my error to a datacache.dll error though. Atleast its localized.

That directory is loading straight from Half-life2 Episode 1 file which isn't the steam named file, also there should be a space between life and 2. Therefore your problem is with the pirated version. How about you be straight with us a second and tell us the problem with your real version through steam. When you get back to us with the problems with that version we'll help you out. Until then, not interested. Look forward to your reply.

What about me? You must realize that people with legit copys are having this problem too.

Sure, but i assume you are running the legal version and getting the problem by running it through steam. The directory he show's is not steam connected, so how are we supposed to help with that? Those files are just downloaded from some warez site. Those running it through steam have options to validate/ defrag files and contact steam support.
