Flicking through the BBC news site on a daily lunchtime surf™, I found this article, detailing a little conversation between President Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The US president apparently believes the Middle East conflict could be ended if only pressure were put on Syria "to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit".

What's great is that this was caught on the microphones when they intended to be discreet. All that's missing is Bush to make the D: face after it.

I hate how some sites and news stations made a bigger deal out of this than the violence in Israel, Lebanon, and Palestine.

I'm glad to know the President has opinions, and personally I wish he'd voice stuff like this more often in public forums. Really, it's nice to know that politicans are just people too, and not robots.

Now if only we could get Bush on air saying the situation in the Middle east is f*cked up....

I laughed at first, but then I found it pretty depressing how flippant and frankly dumb they sound. I wish they'd included the bit about sweaters in the audio.

To be honest, I'm not surprised at how flippant it was, what with Blair calling international commerce "this trade thingy", it would just mirror how any normal person would speak about their work.

However, for such positions in this world a lot more tact is needed, especially with all the shit going on in the middle-east right now. Indeed, it is a depressing notion.

The only thing that shocked me about the conversation was how repulsive Bush was when eating. Seriously, the entire time he's got a muffled food-in-the-mouth voice that pisses me off.

Aside from that... bah. Who cares if he swore. Not saying you fine people do, but I know I saw a lot of news outlets making a big deal out of it. God forbid people converse normally when they think they aren't being recorded. Same for the "trade thingy" remark. They know what they're talking about. No need to get all verbose when layman's terms will work just fine.

lol yeah same, he was really slobbering it down.

but they didnt knewthey where recorded?

and why this is o a big deal?

"omfg the presdient sayed the word shit omfg"

"You see the irony is what they need to do is get Syria, to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit and it's all over... "

I think he needs to go on microphone and YELL this. Just like it is, it's straight to the point.

It's not professional though. I mean, his words aren't far from the truth, but he just needs to...you know, say it in a better way. Enough of this shit kicker everyday joe thing. We had enough of that bs when Jackson was ruining the country.

No. It NEEDS to be put bluntly. Need to STOP sugarcoating. That's a straight FACT and should be said, in words as straight cut as that. He doesn't have to be vulgar saying it again or anything but he should keep it to mostly those words. Get the fundamentalists to stop.

Bush: Tell her to put him on, them on the spot. Thanks for the sweater - it's awfully thoughtful of you.

Blair: It's a pleasure.

Bush: I know you picked it out yourself.

Blair: Oh absolutely - in fact I knitted it!!!

Why do our leaders sound like a couple of mumbling joe schmos? They're not even keeping it professional.

They arent keeping it professional because what you see in the video is a fairly casual conversation between friends. Why should they be being statesmenlike?

They're still talking business.

But even so... i'd expect a more intelligent conversation than a bunch of "yeah"'s thrown about more than anything.

I dunno, it's pretty reassuring to know that the world leaders are still everyday average people. Would you rather them act like royalty? I wouldn;t. I'm glad Bush uses the word shit when it's appropriate, and I'm glad he enjoys going out and getting dirty on the farm. He's a person, like you and I. He is fallible, and that's pretty damned important to reconize.

I didn't mind that he used the word shit. I use it all the time, and as far as vulgarity, I wouldn't hold him much higher than my own standards in that regard, since its mainly irrelevant unless he was constantly using it in political address.

But anyways... yes, I'm a not so average, average joe. I guess I just wish the conversation appeared more intellectual like I know my family can have... we're not sophistcated snobby types... we're lower middle/middle middle class working americans.

Anyways... i'm not making the biggest deal out of it anyways...

The real irony is that it's the supposedly good Christian president cussing it up.

Not that any of the Christians here are gonna take notice. Abortion and gay marriage are the only things God cares about!

yeah i don't give a shit if bush swears but if he's going to veto stem cell research because it crosses a moral boundary, then what the f-ck does swearing do? F-ck that asshole.

Does it actually say anything in the Bible about not swearing? I should probably know coming from a Catholic school an' all....

Profane originally just meant secular. It’s not used in that context often anymore in colloquial language.

Damn it, what is with these politics spam bots? What's the point?

Get the **** out, it's going to blow!
