Anyhow, maybe you guys can help me. I am looking for a song that they play on my local rock station. I just need to know what its called but I cannot think of ANY of the words but the thing I do remember is in the intro, there is a old lady speaking, almost sounds like she is giving a speech or something. Any info as to the title and artist would be greatly appreciated!!!

LOL! i think we are goign to need alittle more information than that..

The music sounded similar to Metallica... if that helps? lol

And seriously, what songs have a old lady speakin at the start?!

Edit: Yea I posted in the wrong forums, sorry mods

The only Metallica song I can think of with an old lady is The Memory Remains, it's just not at the beginning. We need lyrics here. :)

[EDIT]: Ooh, maybe it's When Girls Telephone Boys by Deftones. There's a bit at the beginning when you hear a woman speaking.

I wish I had lyrics lol... damnit this is really buggin me. Im looking into that song by the deftones. Anyhow, it sounds like the intro was ripped from a speech or something with an old lady talkin... and after she is done the music kicks in... ARRRRRR *rips hair out*

AHHH FOUND IT Guns and Roses- Civil War
I called in to the radio station and FINALLY got through and they told me what it was!!! sorry for the spam

Guns N Roses does it again. They kick don't they? ;)

Rhawk ohhhhnnn dhhhuuude, like, whoa! /me headbangs 'n waves long hair about the joint

Oh yes...Guns N' Roses - now reduced to Axl Rose.

If you think we've waited a long time for Half Life 2, imagine how long GNR fans have been waiting for the followup to "Use Your Illusion 1 and 2". I doubt I'll ever see "Chinese Democracy" (yes that's the name of the album).

I dunno, November Rain is great, but can it match up to Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters"? What do you guys think?

November Rain is a horrid little thing, and Nothing Else Matters isn't that good either. The version on S&M is infinitely better. The Unforgiven works more as a heavy metal ballad I think.

I dont think there are any rock radio stations in the uk :( well there are some but they are all digital. :(

meh metallica went all girly when bob rock took over

oh and I absolutely detest lars

and justice for all was there last true metal album

oh and that voice over before the GnR song is from the movie Cool Hand luke

"what we have here is a failure to communicate"

You mean his drumming? The funny thing is even though I hate St. Anger I thought his parts on that were far better than there other stuff (atleast the more recentish stuff before S.A). In most songs he'll just play a stupid rock beat with stupid fills and throw in some fast double bassing =/ Doesn't cut it really.

If you meant the person himself, then please ignore that rant. Oh, and he's got an annoying voice :P

heh I like his drumming ...I just don't like him as a person.

The snare in 'Tallica's last album sounded retarded :|
When they get round to there next album, they better go back to their Ride the Lightning music and put the drum back!!

I find it odd that people always want Metallica to return to their "Ride The Lightning" sound or "Master Of Puppets" sound. But the band have said over and over that they're bored with thrash and they don't want to do it anymore, yet the fans constantly shout at the top of their lungs to return to their old sound. If you want Master Of Puppets, go listen to Master Of Puppets.

Personally, I love every Metallica album. I consider Load/Reload and St. Anger to be highly underrated. All their albums have high and low points, and aren't exactly always the examples of perfection some claim them to be.

dont get me wrong, their new stuff has been good... i love Load.
The problem is with St Anger, there are no solo's, the songs are long and repeatative and the lyrics are plain shite! :(
All their other albums are great though :) There aren't any other mainstream bands doing thrash (that i know of) like they did it, and its missed.

I find a lot of Metallica's songs have suffered from being too long. The majority of "...And Justice For All" just went on for so long. I actually consider this album a lot more overly repetitive than St. Anger. :) And at least the lyrics aren't as bad as Kill 'Em All. :D The thing I like with St. Anger is that it's just full blown riffs from beginning to end. I never really focus on lyrics, so they don't bother me. :)

[EDIT]: I always wondered why the band released a DVD with St. Anger showing them play the whole album live in their rehearsal space. Now I know why; the songs sound better than they do on the CD, thanks to that awful production. :D

metal songs are generally quite long though, their new stuff is basicly sounds like linkin park if they were a metal band.
