I was just thinking, last year it was announced that HL2 would be released on 9/30/03, so I actually went and bought a pretty sweet rig about a month after that announcement. 2.8 ghz P4, 1 GB RAM, RADEON 9800 Pro 128MB. Now that the game is seriously close to release (knock on wood), I am seriously considering an upgrade to a machine that was, at the time, pretty top notch. I know ultimately it was my decision to buy the system at that time, but man....THAT SUCKS! I just don't feel like dropping another 400 bucks on a new vid card. I mean, in my opinion, a game like this needs to be played at its best settings in order to get the full experience. oh well, woe is me.... ;(

But with what you have the game will still run top notch...so if you're saying you're upgrading twice for the same game, you really don't need to.

Aye, you'll be able to play on Full settings.

on a side note, how will i do with

Radion 9600 pro 256MB
2.09ghz (sad i know)
2 GB of Ram

Ram is overkill, but you should do fine. No game uses 2 gigs of ram.

A 9800 pro should run HL2 fine. And there's nothing wrong with that 2.8ghz P4 and definitely nothing wrong with 1GB of ram, you're all set.

How's just a general run of the mill 9600 do?

..In comparison to a GeForce 2 MX Integrated?
